I straighten my hair this morning. I know how my boyfriend likes it. I’m ready, waiting outside to see my boyfriend’s car when it will turn on my street. It doesn’t take long.
He greets me with a kiss when I enter into the car. He drives while holding my hand. The big smile can’t get off my face.
The short ride to school seems to take so long, but I don’t mind, I’m with him.
He parks his car and turns to me while putting off the keys from the car.
His eyes suddenly gets wide open. My body hurts very much.
-Susan, your face!
I’m afraid of what I could see, but, suddenly crazy, I look out the window to find my reflection in the rear-view mirror.
No, not my reflection, please, it’s the one of a stranger full of scars…
-Get out my car!
I don’t want anyone to see me, but I obey. My hair falls by handful.
No, no, no, no, no…
-No!
I sit straight on my bed.
Even my subconscious is killing me.
I meet my eyes in the mirror. Those eyes are lost, wide…
Dead.
Instinctively, I touch my bold hair.
I’m not dreaming anymore.
