I swiped left behind the tree just before diving into the ditch closest to me. Every breath I took burned, trying to quiet them only magnified the pain. According to the map that I stole from the vault, the drainage system was precisely where the map marked it, remnants of the pipes anyway. Seconds later envoys flew over me, drones scanning every inch of the area except where I lay. I once read in one of the impermissible books that before the walls went up, conspiracists created an unheard of material at that time that interfered with the rising government's technology, unbeknownst to them.
I've managed to successfully remain undetected for two hours now, the drones were gone and the envoys moved on. Every passing second has been chaos, until now. I buried my head in my hands and smiled. "I'm free," I whispered. No restrictions placed on me, nobody watching my every moves, and no one can control me. I feel it coursing through my veins, the adrenaline nearly overwhelming. My name is Raiden and in the eyes of the bureau, I'm now a Renegade.
