Epiphany ~ Chapter 27.

"Could Goshi even split those two up?" Shigure deadpanned,

"I'm not even mad at you underestimating me. Those two are monsters, don't even involve me in that." He crossed his arms, shivering at the thought.

Guren leaned back in his chair and he couldn't help but look at his friends somewhat fondly. Often, the guilt that came with keeping so many secrets from them made him question his right to even keep the friendship they had but they were always a great distraction from the on going stress he was currently consumed with.

You stayed up for Guren tonight, you didn't know how long exactly he would be staying but the possibility of him being called back as soon as tomorrow made you wanted to spend as much time with him as you could,

It was around midnight and you were still full of energy when you heard the front door open, Guren had returned and was most likely going to go straight to his room,

He probably thought you were already asleep, so you waited a while for him to get comfortable before jumping up from your own bed and heading for his own room, you poked your head round the door, "You're back!" You gave him a cheesy smile from behind the door,

He gave you his best tired smile, "Yeah," his voice was lower than usual and something was clearly up, he was sat behind his desk with his head in his hands, he had been trying to come up with something for the upcoming mission before he looked up at you as you entered and went up to the desk, sitting on it right in front of him,

The room was dimly lit, but you still tried to observe his face, brushing his bangs to the side and placing your hands on either side of his face, "Hey, are you ok?"

"I'm fine, baby." He wrapped his arms round you and laid his head on your thighs, the frown never leaving his face,

"You don't look like it, what happened? Was Kureto bullying you?" You asked trying to lighten up the mood with some lighthearted teasing,

He scoffed, "Please, Kureto can't bully me."

"Hm. I don't know about that..." You drawled,

"Haha funny." He glared, looking up at you,

"Nothing to be ashamed of it's a cruel world out here, and the social hierarchy is brutal." You sighed, casually leaning back and placing your hands on the desk,

He stood up, and placed his own hands on either side of you so he was leaning forward, his face just inches away from yours. You looked back at him a small smirk playing on your lips,

"I wonder where this determination to piss me off came from?" He cocked his head to the side, shooting you a warning glance,

"You're easily irritable today, and you probably won't tell me why, so I'm seeing how far I can go." You shrugged, mimicking his action by tilting your own head to the side,

"Right...keep pushing me and see what happens to you."

"What will happen to me, Guren?" You initially provoked him to hopefully pry whatever it was that was bothering him out of him, but when he suddenly placed you on your feet and turned you around before bending you over his desk, you realised what you had subsequently started,

"Oh, you wanna see what happens, do you?" His warm breath tickled your ear as you felt him pressed up against you, and in all honesty you were far from opposed to whatever happened next,

You both knew without saying that very soon you wouldn't be able to see each other for a long period of time, so you didn't hesitate to look back at him, a sly smile playing on your lips when you taunted him once more, "Don't disappoint."
