New guy

It was the first year of high school, i had just transferred from my previous middle school. I had to do virtual, with this whole virus going on. There were like minded individuals at this school, but i always knew i was smarter. I started up my zoom call and was greeted with a firm. "Hello class! Welcome to the first day of virtual school! My name is Mr. Takonami, and i will be you're english teacher for this year. Hopefully you guys can come back to school after this virus is over but we'll see. Okay now let's go over our syllabus." I then shut out Mr. Takonami, what he was saying was useless anyways. Just a stupid english teacher, i can already tell i could teach better than he- "Excuse me, Mr. Takonami, can you go over that last part again?" "just read the freaking paper" I said, not knowing my mic was unmuted. "Excuse me?" the same voice from before said, "You're just a stupid new kid.", "Okay now, be nice boys" said Mr. Takonami. I then kinda just wandered into my drawings thinking about that guys stupid voice, i have to know his name.

I logged into my zoom the next day determined to learn this jack assess name. I join the zoom, there's.. only one person on? "Oh look, the new kid decided to join class today, what kind of name is christian?" says the mysterious voice, "W-Well if you're so bold turn your camera on... Alexander." He turned his camera on, he.. was so, "beautiful.." i said not aware my mic was on, "What are you saying loser? Awe do you think i'm beautiful?" said Alex making fun of me, "No- NO.. I was talking about my.. CHICKENS!" I said so stupidly, "Sureee." Alex said. The teacher joined the class, and when he saw our cameras on, he said, "What are you two lovebirds doing?" "WHAT, i would NEVER-" i said, "Christian *the teacher laughs* it was a joke dude." I was embarrassed the rest of the day, why would I say he's beautiful, he's not even.. UGH. Whatever at least i know his stupid name and his stupid face and his stupid voice. I hate Alexander.

About 4 months later we were able to go back to school, me and Alex fought the rest of the virtual school time.. and right before we went back to school, he said "I promise i'll fight you one day Christian.. mark my words." I would be lying to you if i told you i wasn't scared to go back to school, I expected to see him considering we had every class together. I walked into first period nervous as hell. There were name tags on which seat Mr. Takonami wanted us to take. "Okay let's see, Jack and Bee, Crystal and Gianna.." I said trying to find my seat, "Ooh Christian here we go, and... ALEX?!" "Hey dweeb, you're even uglier in person.. wait i have to sit by you?!" Alexander said walking into class. "Don't count your blessings, i'm not to happy sitting by you either." I said. "Hello class! And welcome virtual students! Do you guys have any questions or concerns before starting class?" I rose my hand and said, "Mr. Takonami, can I get a different seat?" "No you may not, I figured with you guys fighting so much on virtual it would be good for you guys to sit next to each other and bond." Mr. Takonami said. "Okay now class, let's start the lesson-" "Can I use the washroom?" Alex said interrupting, "Yes, only if you bring christian with you, I heard you have a rather troubled past, don't want you getting into any trouble." Wait, was Alex new to this school to? Not that it matters it's not like I care about him. "Okay fine." Alex said. We then headed to the bathroom silent, and while we were pissing, Alex interrupted the silence by saying, "So, which way do you swing." "Wait, what?!" i said shocked, "I mean are you gay or what." "I- I'm bi, why would you even ask that?" "Just wanted to get to know you and all since we're.. partners." "You're stupid." "Sure." "So, what are you?" "Me? I don't like to put a label on things." We finished peeing and went back to the classroom not saying a word.

A month went by, Alex and me didn't talk to much, mainly about the work. He was surprisingly competition, who knew he could be smart? Whatever I know i'm smarter not even a big deal. "Okay class, today we're gonna be having a friendly competition. The competition is gonna be on idioms! We've only went over them once but they're pretty easy." Mr. Takonami said. "Psh, i've got this in the bag." I said confidently, "We'll see about that." Alex said. I wasn't nervous, of course I wasn't are you kidding, i'm Christian freaking Choe. "Okay first idiom! Raise your hand if you know the answer. What does the idiom devils advocate mean?" alex rose his hand "It means presenting a counter argument, sir." Alex looked at me with that stupid smirk. "Correct!" Mr. Takonami said. "Whatever that was just the first one." I said. "Okay next idiom! What does bang for buck mean?" we rose our hands at the same time, "Okay... Christian? What does it mean?" "It means more value for money, sir." I said with a smirk. "Correct!" Said Mr. Takonami. "What a stupid smirk." Alex said. I took my hand down from it being up to answer the question. When it went down, it accidentally landed on his. We slowly looked up at each other slightly grabbing on to each other's hands. We realized what we we're doing and took our hands away. "Are you trying to hold my hand?!" Alex said whispering and scooting away from me. "No! Of course not!" I said blushing in embarrassment.
