Stormstar ran through the forest, no his forest. If foxes think they can chase his clan out of the forest, then they're mistaken. "Stormstar if we let the foxes think we're gone they might give up!"  Rustlepelt called. "How in the name of Starclan are we suppose to do that?" Stormstar questioned.

He looked around. His eyes narrowed as figured it out. "Rustlepelt, there are trees up ahead, take a few sharp turns and then fling yourself up a tree," he ordered. Rustlepelt looked at his leader questionably, but nodded. A few foxlengths ahead, Stormstar took a sharp turn. He let out a yelp as he slipped on the mud, still slippery from the days of rain, the forest had got.

He felt hot breath on his pelt, as he felt sharp teeth grab his fur, and rip it off. Stormstar quickly got his paws, and slashed its face. That didn't unbalance it but seem to make the fox angrier.

The fox lunged for Stormstar. The fox bit down on Stormstar. Stormstar yowled, he thrashed around in the foxes grasp. "Stormstar!" He heard Rustlepelt yowl. The fox helped letting go of Stormstar. Stormstar got his paws, his back leg was too sore to put any weight.

Stormstar bit the leg of the fox. Rustlepelt and Willowwhisker, were on the right side of the fox, slashing their claws down the side. Cinderstream was biting the foxes tail. Stormstar felt a pride at how strong of a fighter his daughter was. The fox snapped at Stormstar locking his jaws around leg, but quickly let go.

Stormstar star jumped back hardly able to catch his breath. The fox strikes again and bit Stormstars side and again on his shoulder. Stormstar lunged him self at the fox, he clawed his cheeks. The fox flung him to the ground, his soft belly exposed. The fox lent down and bit his belly.

Stormstar yelped. The fox let out a high pitched screech, and took off. "Dad?" Cinderstream whispered, "are you alright?" Stormstar looked at his daughter, then to his deputy. His breathing was getting shallower.

"I think my time to lead this clan is done, and it's Rustlepelts turn," Stormstar choked out. Rustlepelt eyes showed fear. "I can't, I'm not ready," Rustlepelt yowled. "You were ready since the day I made you deputy," Stormstar meowed. "But I must go now, Starclan will be waiting for me."

"No!" Cinderstream yowled, and pressed her muzzle into her fathers fur. Stormstar flank slowed, and eventually stopped moving. He closed his eyes.

He awoke in the clearing he got his life's from. In front of his stood the cats who gave him his nine lives. "Are you ready, Stormstar?" Spiderstar asked. Stormstar looked back, and then looked forward. "I'm ready," he mewed.
