Dr. Ernen walked down the hall, his hands clutching in frustration. What was the point of a termination order of all the offers were turned down? Just because the scp 682 team has had so many failures and containment breaches didn't mean the rest of the termination teams weren't following protocol, he couldn't even remember the last time 096 breached containment, it must have been three years, and even then it wasn't their fault, it was a mistake on part of mtf-6. Walking into the viewing room he looked in at scp-323, the deer skull sat still on its platform encased in glass.
"We are cut for time right now, if the 05 find out about this we're dead, end of story."
The guard nodded at the doctor and swiped the key card. They had exactly seven minutes to get 323 to the 096 containment cell before the urges took over, meaning he had to run, the course he had spent three days memorizing would be worth it if this worked. He grabbed the skull with a cloth, the case lifted by the guards operating claw. Dr. Ernen immediately sprinted away, going as fast as his legs could carry him with the heavy skull. He slid a sticker into the skulls mouth, it would come in handy if there was a containment breach.
The plan was oriented around the fact that 096's skinny and misshapen skull would allow him to wear 323 in a way that hid his upper face, eyes included, meaning no one could see his face ever again. Its muscle mass was already at an impossible minimum, therefore other than pigmentation loss, 323 couldn't affect 096. As for the hunger, 096 never eats, his stomach revealed in an x-ray to be a shriveled up pit that would rupture if given anything to eat. The 05 council ignored these reasons, believing it would increase 096 strength and appetite for human flesh regardless. It might, however unlikely he knew it was within the realm of possibility. But what was a scientist for if not experimenting and learning? He wouldn't be doing my job if he didn't try.
He arrived at 096's cell, out of breath, a level two personel waiting with a blindfold. He tied it to me quickly and slapped the button opening the door as he dipped out of the room into the observation deck. He walked blindly in, hearing the intercom direct him to 096.
"He's two paces forward and one to the left doctor, thats it, raise your arms up, a little more... stop! Now forward slowly, slowly. Good! Now let go and back away to the door.
He got back to the entrance and let out a sigh of relief as the door slid shut. That was too close, 323 had just convinced him to take a bite out of his assistance arm as he let go. They walked to the observation room, a much of meters and numbers that described 096's location without them having to see it. They heard a scream, from 096's cell. It got louder and louder, dragging on and forcing them to cover their ears, though even that wasn't stopping it from bursting their eardrums. Christ everyone on site would hear this!
Then as suddenly as it started, it stopped, leaving their ears ringing and the actual quietness of the room disturbing. Looking at the meters it appeared 096 had tried to take off 323 before collapsing in the corner again.
"Well, the first part was a success." Dr. Ernen told his collegue who was wiping away some blood from an ear with a cotton swab.
"What!" He shouted back.
"Never mind, get the guard and d-class in here, we need to see if it worked before the rest of security realizes that noise was us." Dr. Ernen immediately started recording the happenings as his assistant left.
Theb D class quivered in fear as he was guided to the room, the tales of 096 were infamous among them after all. He was shoved into the room by the guard with blackout glasses before the door snapped shut behind him. On the meters it was revealed the d class was covering his eye. Dr. Ernen got on the intercom.
"Simon is it? You don't need to fear, I know this is a deadly scp, but we believe he is docile now, go ahead look, he can't see you now." At this the D class lowered his hands, the scientists watched with anticipation....
Nothing happened. Wait, nothing? This is brilliant, it worked? 096 wasn't even crying anymore, simply sitting still.
"Right, Simon, go ahead and look under the skull, inspect his face, his mind should be under control by now." Dr. Ernen said over the intercom.
The D class moved forward reluctantly and peeked beneath the skull. Still, nothing.
"Doctor, he isn't moving, that means this was a complete success! Wait, does this mean 096 is no longer and is a 323-1?" The assistant asked.
"For now they will be classified as 323-069, to keep out confusion in the files... though don't you think this is going a little too well? 323 has a concous, it should have done... something by now." Dr. Ernen replied, looking perplexed.
"Maybe there was memory damage for both of them during the whole screaming situation."
The assistant offered.
"I can only pray thats the case."
Moments later they had the d class out in the observation deck.
"Tell me everything you saw, make sure the microphone can hear you." Dr. Ernen said.
"Right, well, uh, the um, scp was quiet and looking under I couldn't see its eyes they were too far back and its skin was brown everywhere but the palms of its hands, not like African decent brown, like, rotting meat brown. It uh, it did talk to me, in my head I mean. It asked me if I was, hungry, over and over like it was scared for MY life. I eventually said no, in my mind still, but then it kept asking, what is hungry? Over and over. Thats when the guard pulled me out." The d class stuttered, but also seemed calm. On the meters, 323-096 still hadn't moved.
"Here, take this paper, the guard will let you in again, tell it exactly what is on the paper, let us know what is says over the intercom, we can hear you from here." Dr. Ernen slid him a note. The D class looked at it then nodded, taking the paper and following the guard. On the paper was "hunger is the desire to have something, to make it yours.
They sat in silence in the containment cell for a minute before the d class spoke.
"He... it, says it hungers for hunger. Thats all its saying."
"Tell it it will never need to eat again." Dr Ernen replied. A moment later the d class froze up and started backing away, his heart rate skyrocketing.
"Simon, talk to me, what is it saying?"
"It it it aaaahhh!" Suddenly 393-096 lunged at the d class, its outstretched arm going through him and even through the foot of solid steel that was the door. The guard backed away in shock from the brown bloody arm. They could all hear it thoughts now, only one word.
"HUNGER?!" It was a question, filled with rage.
It bit onto the d class' head and swallowed before backing away and vomiting. It looked at the door and ran forward with explosive speed, going through the steel like it was paper, slashing the guards kneck and biting his shoulder, but letting the blood run from it mouth rather than swallowing. It shot toward the exit, smashing through the door and stopping to look at the security around it. Looks like they finally figured out it was me just a little too late.
In a flash of guns and human flesh it was over, the guards all dead, each with a bite mark out of the corpse, and 323-096 covered in quickly healing bullet holes and human blood.
It didn' look back, it simply ran straight forward, smashing a hole in everything in its path like it wasn't there.
"Send out an alert and notify mtf six of the situation." Dr. Ernen told his shocked assistant, walking over to a computer and booting up the tracking program. Looks like the gps sticker would come in handy after all. Spotting 323-096 in the forest north of site [redacted] running at... eighty miles per hour? That alone was extremely alarming, but more so was the fact that it traveled in a straight line, not being slowed at all by the trees it was smashing through.
Running a calculating software he checked to see if he could find out where it was going... "uh oh, not good" he thinks to himself.
Mtf six's commander stood in front of the labs hole, he did not look pleased.
"You disobeyed a direct order from the 05 council. You know that means death right?" He looked at Dr. Ernen with a raised eyebrow.
"Scientists ask questions and look for answer. I know what I was getting myself into." Dr. Ernen replied confidently. "But I was prepared for if something like this happened, both of the scp's tracking chip and sticker are still functioning, I tracked them and I beleive I know where its going."
"And that would be?"
"New York City."
"Right, field team get to the heli and prepare to move out, and Doctor, your lucky you are our best bet at recontainment or you would be dead already." With that the commander turned and jogged to the waiting helicopter.
Above the forest of New York the MTF commander radioed back to the breach site.
"MTF six B do you copy site managment?"
"Loud and clear B."
"Get Dr. Ernen on, we have some questions."
"Copy, Dr. Ernen present."
"Doctor this thing is toonfast to catch, we will have to wait until it is feeding to attempt capture, what os the cpurse of action."
"Removal of the skull followed by covering 096 with a bag, bring them back seperatly and cycle through who has 323, flashes and smoke will have no effect so don't bother."
"Copy that, we'll have him back in no time."
"Commander," the pilot spoke up, "we have a transmission from the 05 council, for your ears only."
"Let me hear it."
[Redacted]
Above the city the MTF team notices there are no people visible. Not a single one, the city is quiet and the cars are all parked or crashed, many smoking at their abrupt impact. There were only two readings in the city, about fifteen people in a church of the broken god, and the entirety of New York was in time square. As they closed in they notice approximately twenty people had contorted their bodies into what looked like a throne, some even still breathing. On the throne sat 323-096 with a bloody gash on its chest. It waved and one of the massive crowd wandered up mindlessly to his seat and lay down at his feet. 323-096 reached down and [Redacted] leaving blood everywhere and the girl dead. The team landed on a near by roof, some roping down the side to move in while others trained sniper rifles at its legs. They pushed through the crowd as it [redacted] another victim. Once behind it the first team member grabbed its horns and pulled hard, but it wouldn't budge. Then the MTF team all froze.
"WHERE. IS. HUNGER" A powerful voice rang through their heads. "GIVE ME... HUNGER!" The creature [Redacted] its next victim as the rest of the MTF team shuffled into the crowd, their minds no longer their own.
Eventualy 323-096 stopped and stood, the humannorgans it had stuffed into itself made its body bulge and pulsate grotesquely.
"HUNGER!" It wailed before biting into the shoulder of one of the crowd. It stopped and wretched, spilling bloody vomit onto the pile of corpses it had created.
Dr. Ernen watched on through the MTF helmet camera. Was it transplanting their organs searching for compatible blood types? Did it desire having hunger once more? It seemed to have it, but each person it ate could be swallowed but then simply vomited back up. He picked up the intercom and taped a few buttons to connect it to the helicopters speaker.
"323, can you hear me?" No reply. "Wendigo can you hear me?" Dr. Erned tried.
"YES." The entire crowd replied at once, startling the doctor and his assistant. Dr. Ernen cleared his throat.
"Wendigo, have you considered that your hunger may not be for flesh?"they sat in silence for a while before the thing replied.
"HUNGER... FEEL?" At this it walked slowly through the crowd, they parted mechanically to allow it passage. "Hunger, hunger." The voices said softer, as if affirming something. The wendigo reached into one persons satchel and pulled out a sandwich. It bit into it slowly, then ravenously until it was gone. It stopped and stood for a moment before dashing forward into a building that seemed to be filled with pastries. After a moment 323-096 stopped and vomited out some of what it ate and stopped to comprehend what had happened. Then it grabbed a cake and ate it. Slowly. After its was down to just a few bites. Ot walked outside again.
"DOCTOR, WHY AM I NO LONGER HUNGRY, WHY ARE MY THOUGHTS... CLEAR?" The sudden addition to its sentences structure startled the doctor.
"W-well I believe you transplanting those... organs gave you human taste, and the hosts healing factor is keeping you from fully transforming into a full wendigo, you can now finally experience what it is like to be full and lust for flesh no longer." He explained. 323-096 wandered back to the pile of bodies looking lost in thought before stopping and staring at the bodies.
"DOCTOR... DID-DID I DO SOMETHING BAD?" It lay a hand on the corpses.
"No, the bad lived within you, I freed you from it, you are only confused. Return to site [redacted] and we can talk, oh and try not to kill anyone on the way." Dr. Ernen smiled. This was also a good result, even if not the desirable one.
"Y-YES, I WILL CEASE SUGGESTION AND RETURN TO YOU IMMEDIATELY." After saying this it shot off back in the direction of site [redacted] and the crowd suddenly regained concouse, all hell breaking loose as the people fled the corpse pile and the MTF team trying to reorginize at the helicopter, searching franticaly for the missing SCP.
"Alert the 05 of the new developments Dr. Kellogg, as well as telling the MTF team to return to site, I have someone to meet." Dr. Ernen told the radio operator and his assistant. He left the building and walked to the containment cell. Moments later 323-096 came barreling through the already opened fence hole and came to a halt.
"Doctor." The creature spoke to his mind, its hollow sockets locking with his eyes.
"Mr. Wendigo we have much to discuss, why don't you follow me into the new cell, just to keep the others from feeling afraid of you. I will be in there with you."
"I sense no ill will in you doctor, I will follow you... And my name is not wendigo, as yours is not human, my name is [redacted]"
After saying this the Doctors eyes dilated and changed to purple before starting to cry blood.
"Lets keep you're name to the two of us for now and call you freddie, sound good?" Dr. Ernen said calmly, wiping away the blood with a sleeve.
"Yes." It replied. They turned and re entered the containment cell.

A large scale cleanup occurred in new york, many amnestics applied and the official excuse for the wrecked equipment being a type of hallucinogenic gas leaking out of a forgotten containment facility. The families of the dead were told they were killed in car wrecks or had gone missing while under the hallucinogenic influence.
Scp 323-096 has agreed to help re contain certain scp's upon their containment breaches.
