A monotone voice crackled over the radio. "Drop in 3... 2... 1... release..." A massive shape dropped from 100 feet above the Nevadan desert. As hundreds watched, it hit the dusty ground and the world flashed white. Men were almost blinded through their extremely tinted glasses, blinking as the world slowly became visible again. They could see the massive mushroom cloud even from the dozen miles away they were, then ducked into a cover position as they prepared for the bang and blasting shockwave. Their shirts rippled on their backs as the blast roared over them. The explosion crashed past them, then they heard a low roar... then the roar continued... The men got to their feet as the roar ended, looking at the still easily visible mushroom cloud.
"Wooo, boy, that was quite the show, wasn't it?"Jack Harris grinned, looking up at his buddies in the bus they were clambering into. "Man, that fuckin' sucked. It was too loud, too bright, and may I say a bit worrying" Mike Franklin replied unhappily. "Aw, c'mon Mikey, what's worrying about politicians in a volatile world conflict with Armageddon at their fingertips?" Jerry Whittle said with a dark grin. The 3 of them flopped down into the seats, exhausted from the heat. "Heh. I don't know about them having Armageddon at their fingertips, I think it's already escaped and gone out in to this hellhole." Jack said unhappily. Being from a town in northern Maine, he wasn't used to this kind of heat. "It's soo fucking hot out here, who decided to live here?" Jerry and Mike, both being from Arizona and New Mexico themselves, grinned at each other. They knew Jack had seen nothing of the heat of the deserts. "But, Jack, it's barely Spring yet!" Mike said with a grin. "But it doesn't get hotter than this, right?" Jack said, somewhat uneasy at his friends grins. "No, no of course not. This is the hottest it's been in a few years actually." Behind Mike, Jerry did everything in his power to keep in his laughter. "Aw, yeah man this is as hot as it gets" he said, barely keeping down giggles.
