Silence. It was a drastic change to the noise from mere moments before but then again Tony Stark had that type of power. With a single smirk, with a single gesture, with a single sentence (*cough cough* I Am Ironman *cough cough*) he could change the entire atmosphere in a room and he knew it.
He knew it and he loved it. He loved the feeling of power you could only get when people respected you enough to shut the fuck up when you walk in a room. He loved the feeling of having people fawn over you and tell you have much they loved you as soon as they got the chance to speak- god knows Howard never did it.
As he looked upon the crowd of students who looked at him with the biggest eyes imaginable he couldn't help but wonder which one was his Smarty. What type of person is he in person? Maybe Tony could figure out who Smarty is. He is a genius after all. #
Or maybe he should wait. Maybe he should just let things be- let fate run its course and find out when the universe is ready for him to find out..........
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
He was going to figure it out but first- "Welcome Students of Midtown high. Now before we reveal the highest scoring students we thought it would be fun to talk to you guys and answer any questions you had."
Murmurs of "we?" echoed round the auditorium only to be stopped by the fucking avengers walking on stage. Tony smirked while at the back of the room Peter nearly had a heart attack.
FuCk! Those are the avengers! Those are the people who attacked him on his patrol! Those are the people who want his identity. What if they know? That if they set this whole field trip up so that they could attack him? He has the advantage when he's out in queens but in the tower he's dead meat! Alright calm down, Peter. Calm down!
By the time Peter had recovered from his mini freak out the Avengers were already sat at a long table answering questions.
"Well if I had to pin point when I decided to become a hero I guess it was when i saw what my weaponry could do in the wrong hands. That was the turning point for me. Captain?"
"I've always been one to run into a fight-"--"yeah tell me about it"--" To help the little guy-"--"you were the little guy"-- "so I don't really think there was a specific point where i decide to be a hero."--"HA!"--"have you got something to say buck?"
"Yes I do! The moment you decided to become a hero was when you jumped on a grenade and then let a German scientist experiment on you which made you the super soldier you are today, please and thank you."
The rest of the questions were pretty generic; whats it like to be a hero, who is your favorite member of the team, do you guys ever fight each other and if so who would win, are you guys actually friends etc. Well that was until it got to MJ.
"Mr Stark, you have a reputation of a playboy philanthropist, you would use women for your own gain and then dump then when you had no more use of them. You are apart of and financially support a team on which there are only two females. SO my question to you is simple. Given your history with women do you think it right that there are so few on your team?"
The silence was deafening. When people say you could hear a pin drop they exaggerate. A pin is two small and insignificant to make a big enough sound to get over the background noise of everyday life even if everyone had stopped talking but in this situation... you could have heard a pin drop.
No-one fully knew what to do- how was he meant to answer that? Nobody would have ever expected a question like that to come from a child but then again Gen-z are ridiculously unpredictable.
"Um well," Stark stared "Gender has nothing to do with becoming an avenger, we look for enhanced beings to coach and help to go down the right path and in cases like the Black Widow she was simply an increadable spy who's manipulation skills were far beyond anyone I have ever seen. Um does that answer your question?"
MJ simple shrugged as the avengers looked at her with curiosity and shock (and some respect from Wanda and Nat) as she when back to what seemed to be a sketch book.
Thankfully the awkwardness in the air dispersed when the one and only Pepper Pots walked on stage to announce who the first ever person to intern for Tony Stark would be.
