ROHYS WARREN grew up in the slums of reüm, the lowest of five holds in ishianys. the children of reüm were taught to worship their gods even higher than those of iastredell, the capital of ishianys, and to purge themselves of their sins at a young age. it was a teaching method that seemed pure, and holy, but what people of their own hold and blood chose to ignore was the punishment for these sins. children were taught to believe that you could purge yourself of any sin so long as you prayed to your gods, but it was a well spun lie for children so they did not expect the punishment awaiting them.
they were thrown into the darkness and they never came back.
soon, the sanctuary that reüm used to be had grown even darker in each era, and the well spun lie for children had unfolded to everyone in town. no one did anything about it. who could possibly punish their own flesh and blood, their own community of their sins? in reüm there were four commandments written:
I. work from sun up to sun down to provide for your hold, reüm.
II. do not sin, for there will be punishment.
III. when all work is done, retire home and repent.
IV. purge yourself of any sin, or so help you god.
even commandments such as these were simple. but they could also be broken. and no one in ruëm wanted to know the consequences to one of them being broken. but there was only one thing that they could think of it being.
