I stood in front of the tall mirror watching as it all came together. My hair done perfectly as I had always imagined, my beautiful dress and shoes perfectly matched as I waited for the day to begin. Everyone bussing around me to get things organized when there was a knock at my little door

"Who is it?" Lilly asked to the door

"It's me let me in Lilly" a familiar voice said so she opened it making my bridesmaids laugh and Holler at him "yes, yes hello ladies" he laughs fixing his blonde hair as he came in "hey y/n"

"Hey Sam" I smiled looking at him in his cute little suit

"You look incredibly beautiful" he says

"Thanks Sam" I smiled

"You really do y/n, I hope one day I can have a bride who looks even half as beautiful as you do on my wedding day" he explained holding my hands

"Awww Sam, that's so sweet" I smiled squeezing his hand

"I'd give you a cuddle but… the dress" he says

"Hu?" I asked a little puzzled

"I know how expensive it was y/n I'm not touching the dress" he laughs

"You can touch the dress Sam everyone else has" I laughed fixing my hair a little more

"No, I had strawberry jam on my toast this morning, what I'd somehow it's still on me and it gets on your beautiful white dress" he explained "I won't touch I'll just… look at how beautiful you look" he smiled a year in his eye

"Aww Sam are you crying?" I laughed

"A little," he blushed wiping his eyes

"how are you boys doing?" I asked trying to take his mind off it

"Pretty good, he won't come out his room yet says he's getting prepared" he explained

"He's taking a long time…" I said Sadly

"Y/n, he just wants everything to go perfect because he loves you and he knows how much this means to you, give him time he'll be ready" he says "y/n? Can I tell you something?" He asks and I nodded "when we where little, and you used to come over and watch all those stupid romcoms with me… I used to imagine that one day I would see you in a wedding dress, '' he explained "and that… I'd be the one standing at the altar waiting for you" he smiled "I guess I kinda am, as the best man and all… I used to dream about us getting married, but I'm happier now knowing your marrying someone who really loves you and cares for you" he explained

"Ohh Sam" I said in shock almost crying at how beautiful thank was

"But… If you ever need me, rain or shine, two hours or twenty years, I'll always be here for you, and if he doesn't treat you like a princess I'll be you knight and come save you,"

"Like when we were little" I laughed

"Like when we were little y/n" he smiled kissing my hand "I'll tell mark your waiting for him" he said before he went back to the boys room.

I sat outside the main room of the chapel waiting still for Mark, we were due to make our entrances at 10, and be done with the ceremony by eleven. But it's half three and we haven't even started yet, my dad sat with me holding my hand even if we both got more worried with each second. Until the door opened

"He's here!" My bridesmaid Lilly said quickly

"Oh thank goodness" my dad reassured helping me up and quickly sorting my dress as we got set, a few of our guests had even left assuming the wedding was off, as I walked in the seats half empty the sunlight almost vanished into grey storm clouds, the flowers beginning to wilt on the heat my bridesmaids stood waiting for me, as well as his groomsmen with Sam stood looking at me struggling not to smile or cry as he watched me mark didn't look at me maybe he just wanted to be surprised. The second I stood beside him I knew something was wrong.

"Mark are you alright?" I asked in almost a whisper

"Y/n… I have to speak with you" he says holding my hand "we promised we would always be honest with each other, and that we wouldn't tell a lie, and I can't lie to you now. Y/n I really did love you, honest I did. But the more we've grown up the more we've grown apart and the more we grow apart the more I realize we're not meant to be" he explained "I know in the bottom of my heart that I love you, but I also know I can't marry you, because I wouldn't want you to be with me, for us only to grow further apart and eventually lose our love completely, so I'm breaking your heart now so I don't have to later, so both of us have a second chance with someone else" he explained he squeezed my hand and slipped the engagement ring off my finger before he walked out.

I hadn't said or done anything the whole time I felt like my heart had been shattered into a million tiny pieces, he left me. He walked out and left me standing at the altar.

I began bawling tears flowing out of me like a burst tap my head in my hands as I loudly cried.

People all began to leave until I felt arms around me the familiar feeling and scent of Sam's arms around me

"Please don't cry y/n, please, if you cry then I'll cry," he says soothing my back

"I just can't stop" I whined as I cried

"I know I know, I'm so sorry, just please don't cry you know I can't bare to watch you cry" he says "hey… if you keep crying you'll get makeup on your dress" he reminds making me laugh a little thought my tears holding him tightly

"It's okay, what does it matter now anyway, there's not going to be a wedding today" I sighed wiping my tears best I could,

"But you'll have to cancel everything, you spend a fortune on this wedding and so did your family, and… this beautiful dress you can't y/n" he says

"And what choice do I have" I sighed between tears

There was nothing but my tears a moment before he held both my hands looking me sweetly in the eye

"Y/n? Will you marry me?" He asks

"What?" I asked

"Please… I've wanted to marry you since I was a kid, and you have all this and you look so beautiful, I will happily marry you y/n" he blushed

"Sam you don't-" I began

"I want to, I've wanted to forever, and you know I can't bear to see you cry. This was meant to be the best day of your life, and if you'll let me I'll make everyday from now on the best I can my sweet princess"

"Okay" I smiled wiping my tears

"You mean it?" He asks

"If you'll have me?" I asked

"I'd be the happiest man in the world" he smiled

The guests were confused but many of them Happy to stay, I forget about everything else that day from then on all that had gone wrong didn't matter to me I was getting married and to someone I knew truly cares for me and took care of me when knowone else would,

"You may now kiss the bride"

Oh right! Well this is going to be interesting, Sam blushed hard but moved his hand to gently stroke my cheek before moving his lips to my own softly and sweetly, his lips as smooth as silk and he tasted like lavender tea till he pulled away and I couldn't stop smiling but neither could he

And like that me and Sam were married.

Many times I looked back on that day and honestly I wouldn't have wished anything different, as soon as we were married Sam took me back to his flat and we bought a little house together months later, and even ended up with four beautiful little children. He took care of me, always providing for our family, he made sure I never ever felt sad enough to cry and gave me as much love as I could take, I was always his princess and he was my knight in shining armor.

And looking back years later I know that the only thing I would have changed is that I would have picked Sam from the beginning.
