Chapter 1: Fog

My head hurts... was the first thing that came to mind when my eyes snapped open.  I felt like I had been asleep for a thousand consecutive years. My gaze was foggy as I looked at my surroundings.
Where am I? was the second thing my mind wondered to. This was an incredibly unfamiliar room. I had never seen those white, sheer curtains before. Why would you have sheer curtains, the light will just shine through? I figured.  I looked closer at the room from where I laid to see if there was anything I recognized.  There was a small oil lamp, as well as a wooden desk, and some sort of clothing cabinet.  Not a single bit of it was familiar to me.
I was a little shocked when it hit me: I didn't know who I was.  I didn't know my name!  Or my pronouns, but a quick look down my nightgown solved that.  I really need a corset on.  It would be unladylike if I was seen this way.  I don't know why I was so concerned about being seen as a proper lady.  I was far more concerned about that then my name or my location.
I went to stand up, only to find that I was incredibly feeble, only barely being able to sit back down before what would have been a terrible fall.  As soon as I sat back down, I realized how much pain I was in around my chest and my left hand.  The rest of my body was no doubt sore.  I began to wonder just how long I had been lying in that bed, alone.  Before I could try to stand up again, a small stature woman quietly opened the door, before gasping at the sight of me.
She quickly ushered to my side. "M'lady, you have awaken!" I didn't recognize this woman, but she obviously recognized me.  It would be rude to seem like I don't know her...?
"Hello... good to see you... again?" she looked at me like I had said something incredibly stupid, and that's when I realized I probably didn't know her.
"Sweetheart, lay back down, I will get a glass of water up here as soon as I can. You must be terribly parched." Just as quickly as she had marched to my side, she marched away.  Even though she had already left, I laid back down.  I spent the waiting time looking at a small crack in the ceiling above, and wondering why her accent was so different.
She soon came back with water, some small crackers, as well as two other ladies in similar outfits.  One lady had beautiful blonde hair, while the other had gorgeous olive skin.  That made me realize I didn't know exactly what I looked like, and quickly looked at my arm and hair.  I was very pale, with what seemed to be fiery, red, wavy hair.  Though the wave part could have just been where I was laying on it.
"She really is awake, I'm shocked!" the blonde exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips.  The other two ladies came up to my bedside, the small one asking for my name.
"My... name?"  I pondered on it for a moment before shrugging.
"That's alright dear, you'll remember soon. Could you eat and drink this for me?" I obliged, unaware of just how hungry I was up until that moment.  I was disappointed when I was done, because it was not enough to satisfy.
Once I was done, all three of them helped me to a restroom where I was allowed some privacy before they helped me to take a bath. It was very silent until they helped me to get dressed being that I couldn't exactly do it myself.  I found out two things while they did that: Their name's where Azula, Samantha, and Lizzie.  The second thing I found out was that they found me in the woods, two days prior, with multiple bruises and cuts.  Their initial thought was that I was probably ravaged* and left for dead.  None of them where doctors, but they believed I had a broken rib or two, and a broken finger, not to mention the countless bruises.  I was then very grateful for my memory loss.
Once they where done dressing me, and fixing my hair, I was shown to a mirror. My hair was very pretty, and I had very nice green eyes, although my face and neck where bruised which made it not the best site to look at.  I really liked the cotton dress I had on though, with its laces and buttons.
"Sweetie, we are going to take you back to your room, while we send lord Jamie up." Lord Jamie?  They brought me back to my room the same way they brought me out: Samantha, or Sam, and Lizzie at my sides supporting me, while Azula stood behind me incase I where to fall.  At that point I figured I probably could have walked by myself, but I was grateful for it nontheless.  I honestly was still confused to truly focus, so I may have tripped over my own feet.
We got back to the room, and they kindly sat me at the desk when I asked.  "If you'd like, I could sit here with you?" Lizzie offered.  I shook my head no, but thanked her.
"Is there any ink and parchment?" I asked.
"There should be some in the desk drawer." Samantha answered, on their way out the door.
I pulled out a peice of parchment, some ink, and a quill out of the desk.  My initial intent was to write a letter, but I realized I didn't know who to write to.  That's when I became aware how frustrating it is.  I felt like there was someone, somewhere who was probably worried about me that I should write to.  I just couldn't remember who they where...
As I tried and failed to remember, I ended up drawing on the parchment.  It was a drawing of a man.  I was unsure of where I learned to draw, but my movements felt familiar, and the man looked familiar as well.  That only frustrated me more.  I crumpled up the paper and threw it to the floor.  When the paper hit a shoe is when I realized I was not alone.
I followed the shoe up to it's owner.  It was a man who I assumed to be the Lord Jamie that was mentioned.  He had curly, dark brown hair that resembled a lions mane.  It took all my restraint not to jump up and run my fingers through it.  His eyes looked like pools of honey that I could just fall into, and his freckled face looked as if someone had flicked acrylic paint on it. And his lips...
As gorgeous as he looked, his personality did not match. After a moment, he snatched up the peice of paper, and unfolded it.  "I was watching you draw this.  Why did you ruin it?" He demanded.  If it weren't for the fact he sounded like a damned brat, I would have thought it was a compliment.
"And who are you to speak to me like that?" It was my turn to sound demanding.
"My name is Jamie. I am the lord of this village, and it is my manor that you sit in.  Now answer my question, why did you crumple it up?" He crossed his arms, but he spoke the last question a little nicer then the time before.
"I find it frustrating not knowing where I learned to do that.  Or who that was..." I explained, crossing my legs.
He took a seat on the bed, on the other side of the room. "So... your saying you don't remember who you are?" He asked, as if he pitied me.
     "No.  I don't." I said plainly.
"So you have no family you can go home to?"
"I am sure I have a family, but I can't remember them..." I mumbled. What part of 'I don't remember' does this fool not understand?
"Then you will need a place to stay until we find who you are, correct?"
I didn't answer him, just gave him a look that as if to say 'clearly.'
"Then you can stay here. On one condition."
