"And here we are, our home sweet- er- home," Elizabeth said as she looked out the car window, her eyes being met with a run down apartment building.
"Hey, it looks only slightly shady," Salem, her best friend and soon to be roommate said as they pulled the car into a parking spot just outside the front doors, "and look! The perfect parking space. It was like it was meant to be." They chuckled a bit, putting the car in park and looking over at their friend with a big smile.
"Pfft, yeah whatever. Let's just unpack. It isn't the worst place in the world," Elizabeth smiled slightly as she unbuckled and got out of the car, stretching out her arms and legs. "Wow, we were in that car for waaaay too long," she groaned a bit as she bent her knees to try and bring back the feeling in both of her legs.
"It was only a few hours, you'll live." Salem got out as well, looking at the sky. It was late afternoon and the sun was already low in the sky. They went around to the other side of the car to get their things out of the back. "I could use some help you know," They huffed as they pulled out one of the suitcases.
"Oh. Right," Elizabeth giggled softly as she turned to them, a big grin on her face. How could anyone ever be mad at her? Salem felt themself smile as they tossed a bag at Elizabeth, who fumbled it a bit before catching it. The two of them start to take their things up to the door and up to their apartment building on the second floor. It took a few trips, but they got everything up there pretty easily. There was no elevator, but it wasn't like they had a lot of things to move. Elizabeth pulled out the key and unlocked the door while Salem stood back, holding most of the bags to carry them inside. She looked back at them before smiling and opening the door, revealing the small apartment inside.
"Honestly better than I was expecting," Salem said as they walked inside, setting the bags down in the bedroom. Elizabeth grabbed the suitcases and wheeled them inside, taking a look around and taking everything in.
"Yeah, me too actually," She mumbled. The rooms were small, like the apartment itself, but there was a living room with a couch and one comfortable chair, a small bathroom, and a tiny kitchen, which luckily had a stove, microwave, and mini fridge. There was only one bedroom however, with one queen sized bed. The two of them had already figured out where they would sleep if there was only one bed. Salem would take the couch and Elizabeth would get the bed, even though Elizabeth insisted she would take the couch. They decided that they would share the closet and dresser space in the bedroom, however.
Elizabeth looked everywhere in the apartment, every drawer, every cabinet, every closet, which didn't take very long considering the size of the place. She just wanted to get a sense of everything, already planning out where everything would go. She certainly was an organized person, which Salem always teased her about, saying she probably had some form of OCD.
"Looking for something?" Salem asked from behind Elizabeth when she was looking in the bedroom closet.
Elizabeth turned around to look at them with a smile. "You dork," she lightly punched their shoulder. "Come on, let's start unpacking!"
"Right nooow?" Salem whined a bit, flopping on the bed backwards and looking up at the ceiling.
"Yes right now!" Elizabeth walked over to the bed and sat down beside them, leaning back on her hands.
"But we just got here, can't we wait a moment?" They turned their head to look at her, their glasses falling down on their nose.
Elizabeth smiled softly as she pushed Salem's glasses up for them. "Fine. Let's just watch some TV and rest for the night," she always was the one to cave in. She liked making Salem happy and normally went along with most things they said, you know if it wasn't overly dangerous or illegal.
