I had no idea about what I was looking for neither did I understand why I was in such a hurry. The only thing I knew was that I had to find it and quickly at that.

I turned over the tables and chairs, removed the sheets from the bed, removed the pillows from their spaces on the bed, rummaged through the drawers yet nothing. Time was running out and I still couldn't find it.

I was sweating profusely and panting; my heart drumming against my ribcage out of fear for the unknown. By the time I was done searching every nook and cranny of the shabby cabin, I still couldn't find it and the cabin was in pure disarray. The chairs and tables upturned, books were scattered on the dusty wooden floor; some torn already while others were barely hanging on to their covers, kitchen utensils scattered about.

The whole place was in a mess and I had combed every area. Why couldn't I find it? It must be in here somewhere, I'm sure of it.

"Where is it?"  I asked myself for the umpteenth time. About giving up, the only light in the hallway of the cabin illuminating the place went out.

I turned around immediately; the hairs on my arms and neck stood up like I've just been electrocuted. Fear was no longer an alien feelings in my bones, it was a part of me already.

The weather turned chilly even though no window or door was opened. The lights came on shortly before they started to flicker. Each flicker bringing the shadows closer to me.

I stepped back unconsciously and continued to do so in hopes that I would be free from this nightmare I had found myself in. When my back hit the wall I knew that I was trapped. The flicker stopped when the lights went out and it became really dark. I couldn't make out anything in the darkness and it was eerily quiet. I was heaving and scared out of my mind that I might have peed on myself but I couldn't move, I was frozen to the spot.

A whisper caressed with cheeks with its faint sound that sounded more like an animal in pain.

"It is time"

Three words, one sentence spoken softly yet backed up with evil intentions. I could sense the evil the atmosphere and suddenly the lights came back on.

Maybe if I had closed my eyes I would have saved myself from my impeding doom or even prolonged it but I didn't.

My eyes were wide open to stare at the monstrous creature from the pit of hell. My memory decided at that moment to pay me a visit but it was more like torture as I recalled the events that led me here.

My end was inevitable and I had no choice but to welcome it. As the lights went out finally so did my heart out of my chest........
