Chapter One - Engaged

Start from the beginning

"LouisLouisLouis! ZaynZaynZayn!" I chanted as I ran over to meet my two best mates. They laughed at my excitement.

"What's so important that you had to tell us at seven o'clock in the morning?" Zayn asked as they kicked off their shoes, entering our lovely house. I hid my left hand behind my back innocently, waiting until they'd taken off their jackets and gloves and scarves and everything. We then settled into the kitchen and I was ready.

"Okay. You'll never guess what happened." I said, as if I was a thirteen-year-old girl gossiping about something.

"Tell us!" Louis insisted.

I pulled my hand out from behind my back and slammed it onto the table, grinning at the both of them. They glanced downwards and their eyes widened.

"No way."

"Is that...?"

"I'M GETTING MARRIED!" I screeched, reaching over the table and hugging both of them at the same time, in an awkward position due to the table in between us and my short arms.

"OH MY GOD!" Louis squealed wildly. "Liam proposed?!" he asked. I nodded multiple times, grinning like crazy. "Tell me all of the details!"

I told them the entire story, and relayed a few parts of his speech, the parts that really got to me. The two of them squealed and cooed the entire time and grabbed my hand, staring at the ring and complimenting how lovely it was.

My sleepy fiancé - eeeee! - then trudged into the room, his hair an adorable mess and his eyes squinted. He looked incredibly tired and wasn't dressed, still in nothing but his boxers. He yawned and rubbed his eyes, shielding them against the light from the windows. "What's all the squealing about?" he asked in his adorably husky morning voice, stretching his arms up to the sky.

I smiled sweetly at him. "Just telling Lou and Zayn about our engagement." I stated proudly.

He smirked and rolled his eyes. "You sound like a bunch of little girls." he teased, yawning again and reaching into the cupboards, pulling out a box of Nesquik cereal.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED!" Louis screeched, jumping up and throwing his arms around Liam.

"Please tell me I get to be your best man!" Zayn pleaded, grinning at me and grabbing my hands from across the table. "Please please please?"

I laughed and nodded. "Of course. You've been with me through everything, Zayn."

"And Lou's gonna be my best man." Liam announced with a big smile, causing Louis to squeal more and hug him even tighter.

"Wait. Gay marriage is illegal here." Louis stated as he pulled away from Liam, who shrugged.

"We'll have the wedding in Canada." he said, grabbing the milk out of the fridge. He untwisted the cap and began pouring it, yawning as he did. Since his eyes were closed, he ended up spilling it all over the counter. He grinned at me. "Niall, clean that up." he ordered playfully.

I scowled at him. "I'm not your wife!"

"But you are my fiance, and the woman of this relationship." he joked, even though he grabbed some paper towels and began cleaning it up himself.

I rolled my eyes and Zayn just laughed. "You fight like you're already married." he commented. It made me smile.

"Niall James Payne - it has a nice ring to it, am I right?"

Liam chuckled and nodded brightly. Zayn and Louis had left a long time ago, and now my fiancé and I were snuggled up on the couch, lazily watching television, our hands intertwined and resting on his stomach. I loved how perfectly our fingers fit in between each other's. "Yes, yes it does. You're the future Niall James Payne."

I realized something. We hadn't told Liam's mum yet! I pulled out my phone and dialed Karen's number excitedly, while Liam just watched me curiously. When she answered, I put it on speakerphone.

"Hello Niall." she greeted brightly.

"Hey Karen! Guess whaaaaat!"

"What?"

"I'M YOUR FUTURE SON-IN-LAW!" I yelled happily into the phone. Liam chuckled beside me.

I could hear her gasp. "My baby proposed and he didn't tell me first?!"

"Sorry, mum." Liam apologized, wearing a smile as he did even though Karen couldn't see it.

"I can't believe you didn't tell me before! Oh, I'm so happy for you two! You've gotta help me plan the wedding. Oh, my baby's getting married! And to such a great boy! I can't believe it! I'm thinking an outdoors wedding, with lots of decorations and flowers. Are roses too much? Maybe tigerlillies. Oh, yes! Pink tigerlillies. It'll be beautiful! And we'll invite the whole family. Cousins, uncles, everybody!" she rambled on and on with her plans and I laughed.

"We'll definitely let you help." I promised. "Anyways, I should get going. Got some time to spend with my fiance."

"Oh, of course. I love you boys!"

"Love you too." Liam and I both replied in unison, before I hung up. I grinned at Liam. "She sounds happy."

"Really?" he replied sarcastically, playfully flicking my nose. He chuckled softly at my pouty expression and pulled me into his arms, kissing the top of my head.

"I love you, Liam." I said, tilting my head back to capture his lips in a gentle, sweet kiss.

"And I love you too, my gorgeous fiancé."
