(Evening, Niijima Residence)
"Madame Sae Niijima, sinner of jealousy; you have lost yourself amidst your obsession with success; for its sake, you are willing to promote injustice as justice; from the Phantom Thieves"
"I found it in our mailbox", Makoto muttered in a gentle tone
"To think they would send me one, they brand me a criminal and plan to change my heart", Sae yelled, crumpling up the calling card in the process, "what nonsense, they only care about disposing of those who are an inconvenience to them; fine, I'll just have to catch them first",
"And when you do... you're going to interrogate them, right", Makoto asked, "some kind of underground room, was it",
"Why do you ask", Sae asked, with a hint of anger
"Oh, I just remembered you mentioning something like that before", Makoto said
"That's right, it will be in a special interrogation room underground, my time will be limited but I will do whatever it takes to make them divulge their secrets", Sae said in anger
"Let's do this fair and square"
"I should be getting back, it's late, but I should contact the director and let him know about this calling card", Sae said calmly, "I expect things will calm down once this case is over, once that happens, let's go on a trip to the hot springs, just the two of us",
Makoto agreed and walked up to her room as Sae reported the calling card.
(The Next Day, Metaverse, Sae's Palace)
Everyone met up at the courthouse the next day and entered the Metaverse; they re-entered the casino and made their way up towards the treasure room only to find the treasure gone.
"Hey, where'd the treasure go", Skull asked confused as then an intercom rang out
"It seems you've arrived just as I planned", Shadow Sae said through the intercom
"As she planned", Mona said in both shock and confusion
"No... was the treasure put on display to lure us here", Fox muttered as the intercom rang out again
"First off, allow me to compliment you, I never expected you would be able to make it this far, come in, we shall put an end to this once and for all" Shadow Sae said as a door opened up; the Phantom Thieves soon entered the room and got into the elevator; as they reached the top floor, the elevator went down, the thieves knew they were at the point of no return and Shadow Sae appeared on the giant screen.
"What kind of game will it be this time", Crow asked with a hint of annoyance, "no matter what you bring out, we will emerge victorious",
"You're making a grave mistake if you think you have me cornered I only guided you here because this place allows me to fight to my heart's content", Shadow Sae said, "when my father died in the line of duty, I hated his killer from the bottom of my heart, dying to uphold justice sounds virtuous, but the ones left behind have to clean up the mess; can you imagine the hardships I had to endure",
"Perhaps I had overestimated her, I thought her reasoning would have been more noble somehow", Crow said
"She's lost control", Oracle stated
"Justice cannot yield to evil, I must win, no matter what", Shadow Sae yelled, she then calmed down, "all we need to do to determine who is right... is battle, now, why don't we begin",
Shadow Sae snapped her fingers and the layout around them opened up to reveal a giant roulette wheel; Shadow Sae then appeared behind the Phantom Thieves.
"A clash of brute strength is simply uncalled for on this stage", Shadow Sae stated
"What is she intending", Crow asked
"No more coins or playin' games, we ain't following your rules", Skull shouted
"Oh you will, there is no room for negotiation, you will know soon enough; enough talk, roulette time", Shadow Sae said as a giant ball began spinning around the board, "the rules are simple enough, bet high or low, black or red, and no acts of violence or a penalty will be faced",
"There's a good chance she might cheat, if we bring it up, there's a good chance she'll ignore us, we have to play her game for now", Mona explained
"Now... what is your bet", Shadow Sae asked
"Low, black pocket", Joker announced, the ball began rolling to a stop, jumping into different pockets, it stopped in a black pocket only for it to roll out into a red pocket, Shadow Sae only laughed as the Phantom Thieves felt weak.
"Have you figured out anything", Mona asked
"There's a glass panel on the board, it made the ball float and roll into the other pocket", Joker stated, "round 2 is coming up, Queen, get in position outside the roulette board and shoot the glass panel",
Queen nodded and jumped out of the Roulette board without Shadow Sae noticing; as round two started, the bet was still low, but the red pocket was picked, as the ball made its way to a stop on the red pocket as Queen shot the panel; the Phantom Thieves won, leaving Shadow Sae shocked about what happened.
"What was that about fair and square, you were totally cheating", Oracle stated
"Shut up... SHUT UUUP," Shadow Sae yelled, "one final round, the bets are high, and no cheating this time, is luck on your side",
The roulette spun again, the Phantom Thieves bet on the black pocket, as the ball began to spin to a stop, the thieves silently prayed for the ball to land in the black pocket, luckily enough, it did, and Shadow Sae fell to the ground.
"So I've lost", Shadow Sae muttered as Queen knelt down next to her, Skull and Fox leaving the group to go grab the treasure, and came back, treasure inside a briefcase.
"The investigation will now be able to proceed, the suspicions against you will be lifted as well, this deal we made... was a great experience for me", Crow said as then Oracle jumped
"Enemy readings, where did they... they're gathering outside", Oracle stated
"For real, what's goin' on", Skull asked in shock as Oracle pulled up a screen
"Look at those numbers", Fox said in shock
"That's not good", Panther stated
"We have no choice but to split up", Joker stated, "you all get out of here, I'll stay behind and give you all time to get out",
"Are you planning on distracting them yourself", Queen asked in shock
"No, it's too dangerous for you to go alone", Light yelled
"Let him do it guys, once his mind's made up, he's not gonna take no for an answer", Skull stated, handing Joker the briefcase
"Please don't do anything reckless, ok", Noir asked
"I'll never forgive you if you don't make it back, neither will the others", Panther shouted
"Guys, we have to go, now", Oracle stated as everyone began making their way-out; Joker gaining the attention of everyone as well as the shadows but unfortunately getting caught in the process.
