It started when my father and I moved into our new house after my parents' divorce. We wanted a fresh start, so we bought a house in Kansas.
As soon as we got there, we were greeted by a family: a man and woman, and two little boys, a boy I assumed was 5, and a baby.
"John! It's wonderful to see you again!" My father said, grabbing me out of the car and carrying me over to the family.
"It's a pleasure, Mr. Young!"
"Please, call me Hershel."
My father put me on his shoulders so he could shake the man's hand.
"John, I'd like you to meet my daughter, Kayli."
"Hey sweetheart," the man said.
"Hi," I replied.
"This is my wife, Mary, and my two sons, Dean, and Sam, the baby."
"Why don't you go play with Dean, baby? I just have to talk to John really quickly."
"Okay."
My father lifted me off of his head and placed me on the ground.
At once, Dean rushed over.
"Wanna go play soccer?" Dean asked.
"Sure!" I replied.
I followed Dean to an area far from our parents and grabbed the ball.
"I like your hair," he said after a while of us kicking the ball back and forth.
My red hair, the thing everybody noticed and talked about first thing.
"Thank you."
"How did you get it like that?"
"My mom had red hair. But then she colored it brown. It was really pretty when it was red."
"You aren't gonna do that to your hair, are you?"
"No! I would never ruin my hair."
"Good. Your hair is pretty just the way it is."
And so began my friendship with Dean Winchester. And one thing is for sure, when you become friends with Dean Winchester, there is no going back.
