Autumn of 2013

"Yeji! Hey, Yeji! Guess what?!" Jisu exclaimed as she happily ran to her best friend, who was chewing on strawberry bubblegum, as her baseball bat rested on her shoulder. Yeji smiled at the sight of Jisu running up to her, as she leaned off of the wall.

"I know that look." Yeji said. "What's the good news, Jis?"

Jisu secretly held two items behind her back, and swiftly showed it to Yeji. A gold medal and a congratulatory certificate. "I won first place in the science fair! Can you believe it? I actually won!" Jisu happily days as she latched herself onto Yeji in a tight embrace, like a koala.

Yeji felt ecstatic of her best friend's accomplishment, and unconsciously hugged the latter. "Great job! I always knew you'd win." Yeji proudly says, as Jisu broke the hug.

"This is amazing! I can't wait to show this to mom and dad!"

"You can show them later. I'll treat you to boba on the way home after school."

"Geez, you look a lot happier than I do." Jisu teased.

"Oh, shut up, you." Yeji says as she wrapped her arm around Jisu's neck and dragged her towards the field. "You should be thankful I'm actually spending my allowance on you."

"You always spend your allowance on me. Don't play dumb."

"Oh, you got attitude huh? How about I cancel that strawberry boba treat I said earlier—"

"No no no! I m-meant to say, y-yay! Free boba!" Jisu stutters happily.

Yeji snorted in delight, as they both walked away.

-Yeji-

Jisu wasn't talking to me.

Normally, she glare at me whenever she sees me, or at least mutter a death threat under her breath. But today was just plain, and it was irritating me.

"What's on your mind, Yeddeong?" Ryujin asked as she sat down with me on the bench, watching my baseball team practicing.

"Jisu isn't talking to me anymore." I said defeatedly, to which she chuckled, and smacked me on the shoulder which made me hiss in pain.

"Of course she's pissed at you. You literally just ate her food in front of her. Did you think she would be all thrilled about that?"

I ruffled my hair and said, "You don't understand! She would always look in my direction, and roll her eyes at me. She didn't flip me off, not even once today, and it's driving me crazy!"
