The noise of the ball smashing against the floor always brought the adrenaline to each players body even if it was on the opponents side. Being a spiker was one of the best positions, being able to dominate the skies and score points. Currently the girls team from Toyokuro were dominating their opponents.
Y/n Haiba being the top female player for her age had indescribable talent. She could play all positions without a struggle. Her talent even rivalled the king of the court. Even though she could play all positions all she wanted was to be a spiker.
It was currently the beginning of set two. The girls hearts racing, skin sweating and heavy pants. Inoka Toyokuro's setter sent the ball flying upwards at such a fast pace and like normal Y/n was there to spike it. Slamming the palm against her hand the sensation shocked the ball forward hitting the floor before it could be received up.
Y/n sported a smirk on her face. Landing back down gracefully she was melted with the faces of her teammates. The tingling sensation of the ball was what she fell in love with. Curling her hand into a fist Y/n looked dead ahead at the other team with one thought in her mind win.
A few rounds passed and Y/n was starting to breathe uncontrollably. Coach Meo saw this and decided to call a time out.
"Y/n you ok? You looked like you were gonna pass out," coach Meo said. A water bottle was given to the now sitting girl who was hunched over.
"*pant* yeah I'm *pant* fine, don't worry," she replied to the question with a smile.
The team looked at Y/n with happy smiles before shouting stuff like 'that's the spirit' or 'go captain'. The praises from her team made Y/n smile even more before standing up straight.
"All right. Let's go out and win!" Y/n shouted before running out with her team to continue their streak. The manager that just so happens to be Y/n's younger brother by a year smiled at the team.
"They're quite the team ey'" coach said to Lev. Lev nodded with a massive smile. He was always so envious of his sister's skill but also looked up to her. He always wished he could be just as skilful as her.
The points were racking in quite fast. Toyokuro was on fifteen while their opponents, Seikoudai were only on eight. Y/n never faltered in her movements until the seventeenth point. Y/n's movements became sloppy and out of time allowing Seikoudai to catch up. It was now nineteen to nineteen. Y/n was beyond annoyed at herself. She's never missed in these matches nor has a team been tied with them. Clenching her fist she waited for Inoka to set her the ball. As soon as the ball made contact with Inko's hand Y/n made a run for the spot.
Jumping high up in the air, hand stretched back for the ball to meet her at the centre. As the ball came right in front of her hand she pushed with all her strength sending the ball forward and scoring another point which then made the match twenty to nineteen. A wide smile was on her face as she descended to the ground.
The cheers from the stadium suddenly stopped. Y/n's vision got blurry. She could see the audience cheering but it was so faint she couldn't hear. Her foot made contacted with the ground and that's where it took the wrong path for Y/n.
As soon as her foot touched the ground her vision and hearing was fine until a loud crack followed shortly after with a thud echoed throughout the entire gym. Everyone stopped. The teammates of Toyokuro along with the coach and manager looked at their captain where the sound had came from. Y/n laid there on the ground gasping for air while holding her right leg.
Her leg bone had snapped in half.
Lev quickly rushed over to his sister. Tears streaming down his face while screaming. He was followed by coach Meo and the team. Like before Y/n couldn't hear and her vision was covered with black spots. She was trembling in pain.
Coach Meo quickly called the ambulance. Staff members rushed down with medical kits, ice bags, pillows you name it they brought all of it. Being gently pulled up onto the pillow with an ice pack against her leg almost killed her body. Her face was stained with those same tears her brother and team shed. The entire stadium was in a worried state even all of the teams who had stopped and crowded around the scene. Y/n's eyes slowly closed giving into the darkness not listening to the pleas to stay awake.

The moment Y/n woke up she knew something was wrong. She felt sick and she didn't know where she was. Groaning she tried to sit up but was stopped with the rushed hands to keep her down. Y/n looked up at who the hands belonged to. Her mother, brother and older sister. Looking closely at the faces she ould tell they had been crying.
"Woah stop where am I?? What happened??" Y/n asked her family. Their already gloomy faces fell even more.
"Sweetheart you are at the hospital according to what your brother tells me you were on the floor in pain after spiking the ball and scoring a point. Do you not remember?" Her mother explained kindly slowing her words down.
Y/n's face was in a state of panic. Sitting up frantically she ignored all the stabs of pain.
"Did we win?!" Y/n said looking at her brother. Her brother only looked at his sister upset before shaking his head. He tilted his head downwards.
"No as soon as you were taken the team was demolished, that's what Inko chan said," Lev said softly.
Y/n was broken. We...team...lost..., she thought tears making their way down her face. Alisa looked at her sister broken hearted as well. She always loved it when Y/n would come home in such a bright energy after every win. But since they lost and she ended up in hospital she clutched her chest before letting out a few sobs before hugging her sister close to her. Y/n cried harder as she clutched onto Alisa.
The door had soon opened and in walked a nurse holding papers.
"Ah you're awake miss Haiba we have the results," the nurse said looking through the sheets of paper in her hand. The girls stopped crying after hearing the words spoken. Y/n sniffled.
"Results?" She whispered softly. The nurse nodded and walked over to the other side and handed the X-rays of her leg.
"Yes. Sadly miss Haiba you're right leg has quite the number of fracture while your left leg has a tendon tear." The nurse explained as Y/n rapidly went through the X-rays before looking up at the nurse in disbelief. Alisa grabbed the X-rays from Y/n.
"As well with these injuries it means you are not allowed to play sports from now on. Which means no Volleyball..." Y/n tuned out the rest of the words the nurse spoke.
No volleyball then who am I, she skied franticly in he head.
"...If you continue to play volleyball regarding your condition you might not be able to walk, jump or run ever again."
The Haiba family looked at Y/n she was staring into space. The nurse left after giving mrs Haiba te list of medication. Lev quickly grabbed onto his sister and hugged her as he cried. Alisa silently wept hands clenched over her mouth as she crouched in the corner of the room. Their mother staring at the amount of papers in silence.
Lev looks up to n/n when it comes to volleyball. Who is he going to look up to now, mrs Haiba thought as she drifted her gaze to her children. Y/n slowly moved her head so that her eyes stared out of the window. Tears uncontrollably ran down her face.
What am I gonna do now

But that was three years ago.
Her passion for volleyball faded away and was now turned to art. That's what her mother forced her to do. Mrs Haiba had banned sports for Y/n's safety. Never once was she allowed to leave the house, run or jump. She was stuck at home.
Now here she is starting fresh from three years of home school. Her first ever day at Nekoma high as a third year student. She could hardly contain her excitement.
However as we all know these stories always have that one person to come along and change their life. Luckily in Y/n's case that someone just so happens to be the captain of the sport that she most despises. The captain of the volley ball team.
