* Imagine Kara showing you the suit for the first time *

Stepping past the threshold, Y/N could see that the apartment itself held none of her memories, but the objects and pictures littered around the room held enough memories for her to confirm that this indeed was her best friend, Kara's, apartment. With each picture came a different stage of their friendship, their journey that happened throughout the years. The ups and downs; the highways and byways; the clear and confusing. Every thought accompanied by a picture made her smile as she slowly walked around the apartment that screamed Kara. It was only when she came upon a picture that was just all too familiar that her feet froze, her actions following suit.

Y/N felt a mixture of emotions as she reached forward and picked up the small picture frame, but she heard footsteps before she could process them properly. She whirled around, frame still in hand, only to come face to face with a sight that drew a small laugh out of her mouth.

The familiar blue and gold outfit that could be easily recognizable by anyone hung from her friend's frame, yet it was a little different from her cousin's. Y/N could see that where Clark's pants would be hung a skirt that was rather cute if she said so herself. Everything else matched; the cape, the blue shirt, the House of El sigil that also provided a symbol of hope for the inhabitants of the city.

Y/N couldn't help her eyes slowly trailing over the outfit, nor could she help the fluttering feeling in her chest when she met Kara's amused, yet excited, eyes. Her face was almost split in two with how hard she smiled and it only made Y/N's smile widen.

"So?" Y/N wasn't surprised at her own inability to speak and she couldn't say that she hadn't seen it coming. Ever since Kara had reached out to her asking if they could see each other, she had had this feeling; a feeling that sat perfectly in between being anxious and being elated. That feeling doubled as soon as she had arrived at Kara's apartment. Then it tripled the minute her eyes fell on Kara's face.

Ah, shit; she still hadn't responded.

"Yes! Uh, you look....wow, Kara!" Seeing Y/N's enthusiasm, to her relief, she quickly walked forward, meeting her right where she had stopped near the doorway. Their eyes never left each other's, only adding to the mixture of feelings that transpired between them.

"You look absolutely stunning! Like a superhero!" At her compliments, Kara couldn't help her face flushing, heat spreading throughout the entirety of her face. She fidgeted a little, looking for something for her hands to grab to refrain from fidgeting.

"T-thank you, Y/N! That really means a lot coming from you. And, god, it's so good to see you." Without a moment's hesitation, Kara reached forward and pulled her into a hug, a tingly feeling spreading down her arms as Y/N hugged back just as tightly.

"It's great to see you, Kara. And it's great to be back." She pulled back to take another look at Kara, a soft smile on both of their faces.

The previously confusing feelings that hung in between the two of them only became clearer as they both continued the conversation, looking forward to their next chapter together.
