Chapter 5 - The Duffster's out

"It's been a good one," the Duffster said, stepped through the door, and closed it behind him gently, as though he were heading out for a stroll or perhaps a spot of grocery shopping.

Silence. A thump. Then more silence, this time permanent.

"I liked him," Liddy said.

"Too bad, innit," Ray said, and coughed. He glanced at the gun in Liddy's belt. "But fair's fair."

Shayna nodded. "Fair's fair."

Ray hobbled over to the table. The lump on his head hadn't subsided, and whatever Shayna had done to him seemed to have affected his gait.

"You alright?" Liddy asked. "Seem to be off kilter, is all."

Ray sat down. "I'm awright," he said. "Deal."

Liddy sat down and dealt.
