"3,4,5,6,7,8! Y/N you're one beat late! 집중해! (Focus!)"
"Y/N! You need to lift your hand higher!"
"Stop stop. Y/N your footwork was messy! 다시! (Again!)"
I spun on my feet and fell after, not being able to balance myself.
"Y/N what is wrong with you?! We've been going over this part of routine the whole night and you're still making mistakes!" Frustration was clear in his voice.
He took off his cap irritably and swept back his bangs. I felt the tear stinging the back of my eyes as I got back to my feet. All of my co-dancers were giving me either sympathetic gaze or annoyed glare.
I bit my lip, looking down while waiting for my dance instructor to cool down. His tense back was facing me and I dared not to look at his reflection in the mirror. A few seconds that felt like hours passed before he finally look back, without a frown.
"You know what? Go home. And don't come to lessons until you clear your head. 알았어? (You get it?)" Yeo seonsaengnim (여 선생님 = teacher Yeo) said and put his cap back on.
Glancing left and right guiltily, I went to pickup my belongings before making my way out rather willingly. I was sophisticated with so many things running in my mind. Once I was outside of the building, the tear that was pooling in my eyes finally escape.
Why does Kim seonsaengnim have to beat up Lee saem tonight? No one can back me up.
I'm a part of a dance crew, founded by Yeo Hwanwoong. He and his friends, Lee Seoho and Kim Geonhak, managed to recruit the dance troupe. We're not that big, just consist of 9 boys and 5 girls. We do dance covers, inventing dance choreography, and even being backup dancers for idols.
Lee saem is the playful one among the three, although being the oldest. He somehow contrived to get on Kim seonsaengnim's nerve, by annoying him or simply making a stupid remark. Although he is beaten up each time, he refused to stop.
Why I call him saem instead of seonsaengnim like the others? Well, he made it clear to the dance crew that he is approachable. If someone mess up, he'll scold them playfully or just correct them one-on-one. Kim seonsaengnim is the quiet type, he'll walk up to them and take them to the side to do one-on-one.
Yeo seonsaengnim is straight up strict, despite being the youngest and smallest. He'll call them out in front of everyone and scold them without mercy. We aren't complaining as he is a perfectionist, and we do need to improve. However, doing several mistakes in a row and getting called out every time is not cool.
Moreover, we were practicing a cover dance so making petty mistakes is unforgivable. Sure, Verivery's Thunder choreography isn't the easiest, but we've gone through harder routines. Guess the heaven was not on my side since they decided to manipulate my mind earlier that day.
With blurry eyes, I glanced at my watch and saw that it wasn't even close to midnight yet. Lessons start at 6pm and usually end at 12, 1am at most if something is up. We won't have day lessons unless there's a project. I didn't feel like going home yet, so I just wandered around mindlessly.
My feet brought me to my usual comic book cafe, a place where I find comfort. Just chilling out while reading good comics or sleeping on a day off after an exhausting night at the dance studio. I was reminded of him since we always hangout here before everything went downhill.
With or without him, this place will always be my comfort zone. I entered the cafe and went to my favourite spot. The cafe was vacant as it closes at midnight, which means I had three quarters of an hour. I ordered a cup of tea and indulged myself in reading a comic.
