Taking a deep breath in, I approached the girl with the current kiss, Anna. She was a girl with short blonde hair and green eyes, and she was rummaging through her locker. The hallway was nearly empty other than her and I walked towards her, hoping I could get the kiss. Even though I didn't have much hope, I knew I had to try.

"Anna, long time no see," I said, leaning against the locker next to hers.

Anna looked at me and her eyes sparked at the sight of me. I smiled easily, remembering who I was. I was tall and toned from playing soccer, my blonde hair and brown eyes features girls loved. And as Anna stared at me, I wondered if I had a chance.

"Hey Luke," Anna said. "It's been a while. What's up?"

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to grab dinner tonight," I said, smiling smugly. "Maybe go to an arcade or something after, too."

Anna stared at me, glancing around my face. She seemed conflicted, her eyes full of questions.

"This is because you want the kiss, isn't it?" Anna asked.

"What, no," I said. My eyes widened as I feigned innocence. "I didn't even know you had the kiss. What a coincidence!"

Now, Anna narrowed her eyes at me. It was obvious I was lying and I gulped. I knew what was coming next.

"Sorry Luke, but I won't be giving you the kiss," Anna said. "I don't want to be known as the girl who gave Zoey's brother the kiss. I'll be shunned!"

"Who says I want the kiss," I said, trying my best to stay calm. "Maybe I just want to go on a date with a beautiful girl. I never said there would be kissing involved."

Anna sighed and shook her head. She then shut her locker and turned to face me, crossing her arms over her chest. Like many times before, I'd seen a girl react like this.

"Sorry Luke, but you're out of luck," Anna said. "Your sister already won. You only need one Holy Kisser in your family."

"That's not why I want the kiss," I mumbled.

"Then why do you want it?"

I shook my head, realizing it was pointless. I couldn't admit my crush on Ella and I didn't think confessing the truth would help either. So because of that, I gave in.

"You know what, screw it," I said, turning around. "It's not like I was into you anyways."

Anna's jaw dropped and I whirled around and stalked off. Going back to my locker, I saw Parker there. He was leaning against the locker next to mine, scrolling through his phone and I sighed loudly. Parker's head flew up and he stared at me, smiling when he realized why I was upset.

"Rejected again, weren't you?" Parker said once I reached my locker. "Sorry pal."

"Shut up," I said, opening up my locker.

I packed my bag and got ready to go home. But the entire time, I thought about how I was screwed. No girl wanted to kiss me. Because Zoey had once been the Holy Kisser, they made it their mission to make sure I wouldn't be the Holy Kisser, too.

"I don't understand why girls assume I just want the kiss," I said, sighing as I slammed my locker shut. "What if I genuinely just wanted to date Anna. Why'd she assume I was going for the kiss?"

"Because girls know the types of guys in this school," Parker said. "Let's be honest, most of them are douchebags looking to become the Holy Kisser. Girls have learned to be wary of that now."
