Safeeya's pov

"Mama It's not like that" Humaid was busy trying to explain something to his mum. Right now we were in her house where we came to visit her.

"Then what is it then?" His mum asked.

"Well mama, I just want to be financially stable first," he said while I continued chopping the veggies which Adda Nazira had asked me to.

"Daughter!" Mama called upon me.

"Yes, mama," I say dropping the veggies on the center table as I walked over to her and sat on the floor.

"I want you to Tell me something, and I want you to be real" she had the look which she had on the very first day she asked for my consent to marry Humaid.

"Yes mama, what is it?" I quired.

" Why are you and Humaid still childless? you guys have been married for two years now with no news of a child and I am very sure that he has touched you before so I am very confused as to why you haven't conceived yet. " Mama looked quite stressed as she spoke.

"I don't know mama, even I am confused," I say sincerely.

"Okay daughter, but feel free to tell me if there is any complication regarding your health or his " she eyed Humaid who looked down to the ground in shame.

"Ok Mama, I will," I say.

"You may return to your chore, where is Nazira?" She scanned the house with her eyes.

"Nazira has gone to pick up Asad from his babysitter," I say standing up on my feet.

"Oh, that naughty boy" Mama Chuckled.

"Do you know that Asad broke my phone ?"She said.

" Oh my God, which are you using now?" I asked.

"Nazira bought me another one," she said.

"Ahh that's better," I said, I took a walk over to the couch where I sat and continued my chore.

" Daughter," she called again.

" Yes," I answered.

"Those veggies, Make sure you cut them in Big Size's" mama said and I nodded and continued my chore while she and Humaid talked.

"Why didn't you tell mama about your barrenness?" Humaid said while we were in his car and on our way back home.

"But I am not barren," I say, sincerely I am not barren, I didn't just see my menstrual flow early and my grandmother had once told me that it would be hard for me to get pregnant.

"Hmm. But all the signs had proven that you are. Even the doctor said you will find it hard to get pregnant" He said taking a turn into our street.

"As you said, the doctor said I will find it hard. he didn't say barren," I say.

"Okay okay, Insha Allah ( By God's Grace) I pray we will have our kids soon" he smiled.

"Ameen" I muttered feeling a little annoyed which didn't go unnoticed by him.

"You know I love you right?" He asked and I nodded.

"Don't be offended by what I said, I just didn't like the fact that you didn't tell mama about your health condition, I just don't want her finding out from someone else. it will make her lose trust in you and I don't want that" he said placing his hand on mine which was resting on the cup holder next to the driver's seat.

"I understand," I say, humaid always cared about my dignity and I loved that.

"Thank you my baby" he pecked my cheeks as we parked in front of our house.

"Damn! The power is out" he says as we hopped out of the car, this was always the problem with our neighborhood. though it was beautiful and peaceful, the problem was the lack of electricity, it's so annoying waking up and not seeing light, but well, we have work like that. Humaid and I alighted out of the car and headed into the house, we had eaten at mama's house so I wasn't bothered about cooking but going to sleep.
