NOVEMBER (4 MONTHS INTO MIA'S JUNIOR YEAR)
Mia jumps as her phone alarm blares next to her bringing her out of a daze, which usually happens. She was on the roof watching the sunrise before the school day starts. The roof always gives her the best view of the sun. It was one of the main reasons why she chose her room in the huge mansion she lives in.
Anyways, she was on the roof enjoying the view. Basketball season is about to start so she had been going on the roof every day since school started back in August. It was her special place to go to have some peace and quiet.
She climbs down the ladder she has on her balcony leading to her room. Mia was already dressed for school in her casual attire, black jeans and a hoodie. She may have the money for designer clothes but she doesn't like the flashy clothes. As she makes her ways through her empty house to the kitchen her phone starts ringing.
"Hello" Mia answers. "Hey stupid. Coach wants the team to meet early before the pep rally." Mia sighs. The pep rally has been a tradition to do before any sport season starts. In this case basketball season. "Alright Veronica, I'll see you there," she smirks. "Eww don't call me by my full name." Mia laughs and hangs up her phone.
She grabs a granola bar and some orange juice from the kitchen and heads outside to her car. She grabs her backpack and keys by the front door, taking a look around to make sure everything is good and left.
Mia jumps into her all black Jeep Wrangler, one of the few cars her family owns. Sure she doesn't like to show her money off but her cars are her babies.
Cars have a special place in her heart. Every since she was little her father would take her to car shows. He has brought home quite a few and decided once Mia got her license her would buy her any vehicle she liked. She wasn't basic. She just liked the model and the fact that the Jeep could do anything. It was perfect for her.
Mia starts her Jeep and music starts playing. As she arrives to school, she parks in her own spot and gets out. Immediately she goes to the cafeteria to meet her friends. Veronica, James and Emma were in the middle of the conversation when Veronica looks up and waves.
"Hey guys." Mia sits down at the table and starts rambling with her friends.
"Attention all students. At this time will you make your way to the gymnasium for todays pep rally," the principals voice rang throughout the school.
Mia sighs to her friends and starts getting up, "Lets get this day over with."
SCHOOL GYM
The students all had their class sections to sit in. So Mia and her friends went to their side of the gym, the juniors. Yes, Mia was a junior in her high school. She was well know in her school. Being the best player on the girls varsity basketball team since her freshmen year had a part of being well known.
As they made their way to their seats in the front of the bleachers. Mia could feel people looking at her. She knew what power she had over people. Boys and girls admired her, but Mia was picky. She never gave herself to anyone she didn't like. She had her fair share of one night stands, all girls of course. Everyone in school knew her sexuality. Mia was not ashamed of who she was.
"Welcome students. As you know basketball season is about to begin." The crowd roars with cheer. "This year we WILL win that championship trophy. Our boys and girls will bring them trophies home," the principal yells in the microphone.
"So now lets give our attention to the boys varsity coach, Coach Morgan!" The principal hands over the microphone to the coach. "Alright students calm down. Now to start this off I would like to start reading off this years Varsity Boys roster!"
The crowd again gets loud with cheers.
Mia just sits back waiting for the girls team next. For some reason she was nervous. The butterfly's in her stomach were getting stronger as the boys roster was almost done.
"And last but not least give it up for this years team captain, Dylan Gray!" Mia rolls her eyes as girls start to scream. You see, Mia and Dylan are not the best of friends. They always had a rivalry since they were kids. One always had to be on top of the other.
"And this is your Boys Varsity Basketball team!" Coach Morgan finishes. As the boys head back to their seats Dylan and Mia lock eyes together. Dylan smirks as he sees Mia roll her eyes.
"Alright students now put your hands together for this years girls basketball coach, Coach Smith!" Dr. Jones, the principal, yells.
"Students. Good morning. It is now my honor to introduce this years Girls Varsity team!"
The butterfly's start to erupt in Mia's stomach. This year is going to be the year she helps bring the championship trophy home. And nothing and no one is going to get in her way.
