Chapter 7: Leave It In The Past
When I wake up, there's a ton of people in the room. My mom and dad, Jake, Cole, and some kids from school, even Mr.Dillon and Mr.Johnsan.
"Hey kiddo! How are you doing?" Dad asks, coming to my side.
"I feel better. I can breath now and I'm not spitting up blood so hopefully something's better now." I say shyly, smiling gently at him.
"Your mom and I will let you talk with your friends for awhile while we go out here and talk to Mr.Dillon and Mr.Johnsan. Okay?" Dad asks
"Yeah, that's fine" I say as the 4 exit the room.
"Grace we were so worried about you! Are you okay? Are you feeling better? Are you going to come home tonight?" Jake asks, a very worried expression plastered on his face.
"Awe, I was pretty scared for you guys too, I'm fine now and feeling way better, but I don't know if I'm coming home tonight that's up to the doctors to decide" I say, answering his questions in order.
"Wait, what happened with Zac?" I ask
"The cops shot him. He's in critical care and he probably won't make it. And if he does Claire said they're moving to Argentina" Cole says, laughingly.
"Oh my god." I say covering my mouth in mortal shock.
"I didn't mean for him to get shot. All of this is my fault. I made someone get killed. Oh my god." I add
"Grace. None of this is your fault, he was the one who could've put a bullet through your head so the police took extreme precautions making sure they handle the situation delicately. Which they took the necessary precautions in order for him to not harm anyone. He shot at an officer who was wearing a bullet proof vest thankfully and then he shot you so they shot him because he obviously wasn't scared to shoot anyone and they didn't want anyone else to get hurt. None of this is your fault. This is all his fault. He got expelled on that day for selling meth remember and now he came back when he's not supposed to so that's all his fault." Cole says, honesty in his golden eyes.
I lean over and hug him tightly as I start crying.
He holds me close and I can hear his heart racing because he's so scared for me and I start to wonder to myself what impact I would have on people if I didn't make it out alive.
He calms me down and I pull away and he wipes the tears away from my under eyes.
I look down at my arm where he had shot me and I notice that they had to have the bullet removed and they fixed everything inside the bullet wound and then let my skin heal over.
"We'll be right back. We gotta go get something" Jake says, standing up with Cole and walking out of the room.
Then I realize people were waiting to talk to me.
"You're Grace right?" A boy in the group asks
I nod.
"We saw your audition and we loved it! We're from glee club and we came with Mr.Johnsan to come see you. We brought you these" the boy says, handing me a bouquet of beautiful flowers.
"Oh thank you!" I say, smiling brightly as he hands it to me and I sit it on the dresser next to me.
"Anyways, do you mind if we ask you questions about the shooting?"
