dolxn_time and I are collaborating on a new series in which we each write parts of the series from our main characters POV. Hers will feature Ethan and mine will feature Grayson.
To fully understand the storyline it's best to start with mine and alternate each part.
Hers is called Blue Sapphire and it is in my reading list for easy access!!
KORIE
'This was it', I thought to myself as I exited my flight in Los Angeles.
The flight itself wasn't too bad considering it was my first time on an airplane. The part that sucked was the anxiety that had built in my chest since I boarded in Birmingham.
I was finally about to meet my best friend. Junie and I met online due to our love for makeup and ever since we shared mutual opinions on a certain beauty guru's page, we were inseparable.
I was excited to meet her, don't get me wrong, but what if I got there and she realized I was a lot weirder in person and actually didn't want to be my friend? That would hurt.
Or better yet, what if I met her and I think that about her? Either way, I was here for two weeks and we will be stuck with each other.
No. She's not going to weird me out and neither will I. We're best friends and that means we take the good with the bad. It's going to be fine. I know it in my gut that it will be okay.
I continued to manifest positive vibes the entire way to claim my baggage up until I finally saw her, standing there with a cheesy sign that said my name.
I knew the moment she saw me as her brown eyes seemed to relax.
"Junie?" I asked, even though I knew it was her, we'd FaceTimed too much for me to think otherwise.
"Korie! I was so nervous thinking you wouldn't show, even after you texted me saying you were boarding your flight," she said with a sigh of relief.
"Don't worry, I was thinking the same thing. No, that's a lie. I was thinking I'd do something stupid and you'd leave me here to catch the next flight back to Alabama," I said with a nervous laugh.
"Well, we haven't made it to the car yet, so that's still a possibility," she said jokingly.
"You're not funny and I already hate it here," I said back with a grin.
"Good. Now come on, I'm starving. I waited all day to eat," she said as we began to walk to her car.
"What'd you do that for?" I asked as we walked through the LAX doors into the summer heat.
The sun was different here and the heat wasn't as thick with humidity. It felt nice even if it was almost 100 degrees.
"I was trying to be considerate since I figured you wouldn't have eaten all day and you'd be hungry. Next time I'll go ahead and eat," she said back as we walked through the parking lot towards where she parked her car.
"What makes you think there'll be a next time? I may run for the hill after this," I said.
"No, you mean run for the pines," she replied with a laugh.
I was glad that Junie and I had a friendship where we could joke and pick on each other. If it were anyone on the outside looking in they'd probably think we actually hated each other when in reality it was the opposite. She was like my sister, one that I'd never met in person before today.
The nerves were completely gone as I followed Junie to a light blueish, gray Mercedes. After she popped the truck and I placed my bags inside we were finally in the car with A/C cranked high.
"So what do you want to eat?" she asked as we pulled towards the exit of the airport.
"Um, you realize I'm not from here, right?" I said with a snicker.
"Just shut up and tell me what your in the mood for and I'll find us something," Junie replied.
I smiled over at her, knowing that what I was about to say would definitely earn an eye roll, "I don't know, anything vegan."
I didn't have to wait long before I got what I predicted, an eye roll so big that I knew she saw her brain.
"You're annoying me already and you just got here," she whined.
"Well, while you take me somewhere vegan you can tell me about what all you have planned while I'm here," I said as I pulled my small bag up from the floor board to get out my chapstick.
"I don't know, I figured I'd show you around, maybe we could do some shopping. Believe it or not there isn't too much to do here," she explained.
"Anything is fine with me. I'm out of the south for once in my life. We could go sit in a coffee shop for the entire two weeks and it's still better than hanging out at home and work," I countered as I returned the chapstick to my bag.
"I understand that. Well, how about we chill for the rest of the day and you can get settled and tomorrow we will go down to Rodeo and do some window shopping, and maybe grab some food somewhere nice?" she asked as we pulled into a vegan pizzeria.
"I'm cool with that. I agree on the window shopping, though. I'm still trying to recover from the Gucci slides I bought on impulse two months ago."
Junie looked at me and laughed, "Koko, are you still bitching about spending $300 on shoes you barely wear?"
I scoffed at her response, "I wear them, Junie! See, I have them on right now."
I held up my foot for her to see, not that it was necessary but I wanted to make my point.
"Whatever, come on. I'm starving," she said as she got out of the car.
"You get edgy when you're hungry," I picked at her.
"Korie, if I don't get food in my stomach in the next five minutes I'm going to throw a shit fit. So, can you please hurry?" she said as she stomped her foot like a toddler.
I rolled my eyes and smiled as I followed her into the restaurant.
This was going to be a good two weeks. I could feel it.
