Xavier's POV (chapt 2, 3, 4).

Start from the beginning

Simon and I tried talking some sense into him, tried telling him to at least talk to her but all he said was he needed time and I respected it. We didn't talk about the whole situation after that.

Obviously I still had no idea what was going on because it was very clearly neither Austin nor Simon's secret to tell and I got that too. Veronica would tell me if and when she wanted to. But God knows I wanted to know what it was and try and help her. Maybe that was why I listened to Roy yesterday.

*flashback*

I was finishing my Calculus homework at home when Roy Keller, my best friend, walked in with his laptop bag. He carried that thing everywhere.
He had a key to our house too.

"Hey man," he said.

"What are you doing here? Don't you have other stuff to do than come and irritate me?" I said with narrowed eyes.

"Oh shut it. You know you missed me."

I scoffed at that.
"Yeah, sure."

"Where is Kells?" he asked me.

"It's her turn today for grocery shopping."

Roy took off his jacket and sat on the couch.
"So, what's got you all worked up?"

"Nothing," I said with a sigh. "Just homework."

"Go fool someone else, buddy. Studies have never been an issue for you and you know it. You're practically Einstein!!!"

I rolled my eyes at that.
"Shut up and let me finish this."

"Is it a girl?"

I reached over and hit him on the head with my book.
"Didn't I ask you to shut up?"

"Perfect. So it's a girl. What's the issue?"

"There is no issue!!!"

"I know you more than you think, Xavier. I know when there is an issue. Now do us both a favour, stop wasting time, and just spill."

I sighed in defeat.
"Fine! There is this girl at school and she is going through something and I don't know why but I want to help her. But I barely know her enough for her to confide in me so I am helpless right now."

Roy scratched his chin in thought at that.
"Didn't you tell me that there was this new site that someone in your school had made and it goes on the net today?"

"Um, yeah. Veronica, the girl I was talking about, made it herself."

"Perfect," he said and got his laptop out.
He started typing something soon.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked him with narrowed eyes.

"Making you an account. You can chat with her anonymously, get to know her and maybe help her."

I quickly got up and shut his laptop screen.
"Oh hell no. What if she traces the account back to me? My roll number goes in there, right? I have heard she is great at all things technology, Roy."

"Well lucky for you, I am too."
He said and started typing again.

"What crap are you doing now?"

"Making an account under my name. That way, even if she does trace it, despite all my security, it'll be traced back to me not you. And she doesn't know me."

Maybe this could work.
"But what about all the security she's put up? I overhead her talking about how it's pretty difficult for a random person to get in."

"I'll give it to her, she's good," Roy said while typing continuously.
"But I don't call myself a 'hacking god' for no reason."

Twenty more minutes and Roy got up and said, "Finally! I must say that girl does have some talent. It has never taken me this long to hack into something."

He then asked me, "So, what do you want your username to be?"

"Are you sure about this?" I asked.

"Just trust me, okay? Now. Tell me what do I put in your username as."

"I have no idea. I have always been bad at making usernames."

Roy smirked at that and typed in the username while I read over his shoulder.
" Bad@Usernames00? Seriously? That's the lamest thing ever."

He smirked and said, "Well, at least you come across as honest."

*flashback ends*

***
My conversation had gone really good with her yesterday. Maybe Roy was right. This might just turn out to be an effective way to get to know her better.

What sucked though, was that Austin was still in a pathetic mood.

"Carter, you're annoying the shit out of us now," Simon said.

"I'm sorry, okay?! I'm just upset that she didn't trust me enough to tell me sooner," he said while putting his head in his hands.

I wonder if he has feelings for Veronica. I mean, they have known each other all their life and Austin's reaction shows he really loves her and is worried for her. I just don't know what sort of love this is.

I pushed that thought at the back of my mind and said, "Maybe this was the exact reaction she was trying to avoid. I mean, look at you Austin! You are a mess. You should really talk to her and smooth things over before they get worse."

He seemed to think about that and said, "Fine! I'll talk to her. Happy?"

Simon and I looked at each other in relief.

"But now, I really need a change of scenery. Thinking about the same thing for three days is messing my mind up."

Just then I got a message from Roy.
Roy: You coming tonight, right?

I then looked at Austin and got an idea. I quickly sent Roy a 'yes' and looked towards the two guys in front of me.
"You two are coming with me tonight."

"Where are we going?" Austin asked with confusion on his face.

"Ooh! Ooh! Are we going to a party or something?" asked Simon.

"Somewhere even better," I said with a smirk. "I am taking you to the tracks."
