Silence fills the school corridors. A door opens, followed by footsteps racing closer, with every step echoing through the corridors. Jay pants as he finally dashes out of the school block and onto the walkway. The test began 16 minutes ago and he was already done. It was unknown whether he was academically accomplished or just academically ignorant. Maybe he was both.
He reached the empty bus stop and took out his cigarette pack, frantically shaking out his last cigarette. "Since I roughly have 10 minutes by myself before lunch break, might as well get a smoke," he smirked. As he took in a big puff and choked on it, the orange hue of the afternoon sky flashed twice before becoming a pastel purple. He stared at the amiss horizon and blinked. There was no difference. He looked around to confirm his doubts but every single person was similarly amazed, eyes transfixed on this once-in-a-lifetime phenomena.
It was a beautiful dye that ignited his camera lust. He quickly took out his phone and began snapping pictures. It was then, that the picturesque aesthetic began crumbling, fading back to orange. It fell to the ground like powdered snow, neither unafflicted by wind nor weight of gravity. It was glimmering whilst floating downwards, moving like falling ash. Jay began wheezing and his knees fell to the ground. His chest pain woke up his senses- he was having an asthma attack. He began breathing erratically and fumbled around for his inhaler.
Then, it seemed like time stopped. The crumbling snow was nowhere to be seen, and his chest pangs left his body numb. Was it all a hallucination? He stumbled back to the classroom and took out his inhaler, and took a few good puffs. The test was already over by then. Suddenly, a familiar hand was wrapped around his neck. "yo Jay, did you see what happened just now?", his classmate exclaimed in excitement. Jay darted his head back, "The sky?".
"Duh, what else?"
He looked around the class, and everyone seemed confused. Most were chattering in curiosity amongst one another, some searching through their phones searching for an answer. He stood up, and began packing his bag.
"Whatever it is, Its got to be some kind of natural phenomenon. I mean, what else could it be?".
Whatever it is, it wouldn't do any benefit in thinking about it. After all, his rumbling stomach was his current problem.
"Well then, lets go makan(eat)."
"Aight".
