You watch as your best friend and boyfriends best friend spend most of the evening watching each other. It was cute at first but by the time you leave the bar an idea is already formulating in your head. What if you could set them up on a date? Would it work? You knew that Jonah had the following night off, Saturday's had always been Jonah's night off as he'd always use the day to go out and visit with his family. And you knew that if you asked Daniel soon enough he would more than likely say yes to hanging out, knowing that his babysitter was willing to look after the kids for an extra night. Idea formulated in your head you pull Zach aside and tell him your plan, he agrees and says he can get Daniel on board. He'll invite Daniel out to dinner tomorrow night at his favourite restaurant and you'll invite Jonah out, knowing that Jonah will go where ever you ask him to go. But in actual fact it will be a blind date for the two of them. Smiling giddily at the plan you had formulated you leave the bar, saying farewell to your best friend and returning to your apartment with your boyfriend and his best friend.
*Daniel's POV*
The sun blaring into the room was what woke you the following morning. You rub your eyes and stretch, you were now officially 21 and though you enjoyed your time last night with Zach, Jack and even Jonah you knew you needed to get back to pick up your kids. You shower and dress, heading out to the lounge of your best friends apartment, Jack is in the kitchen making breakfast and Zach is making his way out of the bathroom when he sees you. "Morning Dani, where you heading?" He asks and you look over at your friend "I have to get back and pick up the kids" you say reaching out to grab your cellphone and keys, missing the look that is shared between the other two boys. "Oh but I had a whole day planned for us Dani, just like the old days. I know you want to get back to the kids but I was really hoping that we could have a day together, please?" He begs and you look at him and then over at Jack who nods his head enthusiastically and then back at Zach. You sigh, running your hand through your hair "Okay, fine. What's the plan for the day?" Zach squeals when he hears you give in and he drags you over to the breakfast bar as he explains his plans for the day. When he tells you that your day is going to consist of shopping, a trip to the pier and then a trip to your favourite restaurant that the two of you used to frequent when the two of you were at university together you sigh "Zach, I'm not going to be able to afford all of this, the kids come first you know that" you say and he nods "I know Dani, which is why this is my treat" he says and you shake your head about to disagree when he reaches out and places a hand on your shoulder "Please Dani, let me do this for you" he says, using his puppy dog eyes on you. You try so desperately to fight it but you sigh, and agree with him. "Alright, I'm assuming it's going to be a late night. I'll have to ring Sally and ask her if she can look after the kids for another night" Zach squeals again and you shake your head as you get up of the chair and make your way back down to the spare bedroom as you call Sally.
It's less than five minutes later that your back out in the kitchen with the boys, after explaining what was happening and reassurances that everything was fine with the kids, Sally agreed to look after them whilst you enjoyed your day with your best friend. "So?" Zach asked and you chuckle "She's looking after the kids again. I'll pick them up tomorrow morning" you say and Zach fist pumps the air. Jumping to his feet and throwing his arms around you. "We're going to have such a great day Dani" he says and you smile "I'm sure we will Zachy" you say making your way back to the seat as Jack dishes up "I'm gonna go spend the day with Jonah, so I will see you guys later. Have a good day Dani, babe" Jack says in farewell.
Its not too much later that you and Zach leave his apartment, you decide to take your car for reasons you can't quite work out, but your grateful to have it. First stop being the mall, Zach shouts you to a couple of new items of clothing and a couple of games for your gaming console that you share with the kids as well as a couple of DVDs that you had been meaning to buy. He then takes you to get some lunch, Taco Bell, his favourite before the two of you leave the mall and head over to the pier, you walk along, laughing and joking with your best friend and just having a good time, a chance to be a normal 21 year old for a day, without the responsibilities of being a single parent. That is until you get a text message from Sally saying
Sally I thought I'd share some pictures of the girls from our trip out this morning, Harrison didn't want his picture taken and I respect that.

After finishing your text conversation with Sally, you show Zach the pictures of Charlie and Lola, he smiles and coos at them "Aww they are so cute. I wish Jack and I had a family of our own" he says and you look at him raising an eyebrow. "Really? I never thought that having kids would be your thing Zachy" you tease and he shakes his head "To be honest, I never used to think that kids were even a part of my future or a part of my life. But then you brought these three adorable souls into my life and I truly feel so happy when I'm around them. And it's been something that Jack and I have been discussing more and more, I mean a future together" he says and you can't help but smile at your friend "I'm happy for you Zach, and honestly I say go for it. Children are literally the greatest gift, I know you are good with them and the kids adore you and Jack. But if I were you I would wait until after you finish university before you start that part of your family. Don't give up on your dreams" you say and Zach nods, reaching out and placing a hand on your shoulder, "You haven't given up on your dreams have you Dani?" He asks and you sigh "Not completely no, I mean one day I may be able to return to university and finish my degree. And maybe even get my chance at love, but since I've got the kids now all of that has been put on the back burner" you answer and he shakes his head "You shouldn't have to sacrifice all of your happiness for the kids though. I'm sure your cousin would want you to be happy" he says and you huff "I know Zach, trust me I do. But I just feel like I'm never going to find someone who will want me, three kids and all my baggage, it was hard enough being bi and getting a date without the kids. Nobody is going to want to be brought into a relationship with a man who has three kids, I can almost guarantee it" you tell him and he shakes his head "You never know Dani, that guy might be closer than you think" he says and you shake your head as you continue to walk down the pier.
