The woman chuckled as you grabbed the textbooks from her arms and followed her down the hallway,

"Thank you, darlin'. You're such a sweetheart."

A small smile widened on your lips and you couldn't help but giggle internally,

Kenny and Diana have the same accent, though, Kenny's is much more stronger...

"Kenny always overreacts whenever I try to help out around here, but you know, it's always good to move around daily."

Diana beamed, and she placed a hand to her stomach lovingly. You both turned into a room and you placed the textbooks into the cabinets in the laboratory,

"How many months are you?"

You inquired, and Diana plopped down in a nearby chair,

"Oh, well...actually-"

She rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly,

"The baby should be ready to come out any day now."

Your eyes widened to the length of saucers and you sat down beside the dark skinned woman,

"Wait what?! Seriously!"

She giggled at your response, before exhaling contentedly,

"You know, if you listen closely, you can hear her heartbeat."

Diana explained, and you averted your gaze to her stomach. A moment of silence slipped into the atmosphere before Diana reached for your wrist and placed your palm against her stomach,

"Can you feel it? Can you feel her heartbeat?"

Diana questioned, and you waited patiently before,

Thump...

Thump...

Thump...

It was soft, but make no mistake. It was a rhythmic heartbeat,

"W-wow..."

You muttered under your breath, and Diana grinned,

"I know you've been overwhelmed by so much lately, but I personally wanted to thank you."

You raised an inquisitive brow as you repeated,

"Thank me?"

The woman nodded, and you pulled your hand away,

"It's thanks to brave compassionate people like you that my little girl gets to be born."

Diana muttered, looking down at her stomach,

"I've got a good feeling about the future."

Diana smiled, and you admired her optimism and ability to remain levelheaded throughout all this,

"Diana, you're very comforting to be around, and you remind me of my mother in a lot of ways."

You confessed and Diana blinked, not expecting you to begin complimenting her so suddenly,

"S-So...is it alright if I talk to you?"

You inquired, scratching the back of your neck, and her grin only widened,

"Of course, honey. You can talk to me whenever you want to."

Her words warmed your heart, and you vented,

"In my flashback, my dad said that I'd have to sacrifice myself in order to save the world."

You spoke, beginning to feel anxious and you bit your lip,

"Do you think that means...that I might die?"

You questioned, and although she was shocked to hear your words. Her expression eventually softened,

"I don't think you should worry about that too much, sweetheart."

You looked to her with confusion, but nonetheless listened intently to her words,

"You don't know for sure what the future holds, nor did your father ever confirm that you'd have to lose your life in the process. Perhaps he meant that you'd have to sacrifice a part of yourself, but don't quote me on that, because I really don't understand what he means either."

You chuckled lightly, and Diana placed a palm over yours,

"You'll be alright, sweetheart, and things will be okay. So don't stress, alright?"

She spoke, and her soothing tone of voice comforted you,

"Alright."

You repeated as you mirrored her kind smile,

"Well then, let's get going, (Y/n)."

Diana chirped, and you both exited the lab room,

Diana's right. I don't know what the future holds for me. In fact, no one knows what'll happen next.

I just have to keep doing what I can, and fighting for what I believe in.

You walked into the conference room, but you deadpanned when you spotted a fair skinned dark haired male harassing Mark.

A tick mark appeared on Mark's forehead as the dark haired male slung an arm around the shorter commander's shoulder,

"Before we begin our discussion. Everyone, I'd like to introduce--"

Mark started, before gesturing to the tall male beside him, and said male striked a pose,

"This is our hacker, he goes by the name of Ace, and he's the reason why we've been able to remain undetected by the government and the Elitists. You see, they're after us because we betrayed them."

Mark explained and Ace beamed,

"Heyyo! Everybody! It's nice to meet all of you!~"

The group surrounding the table waved back at the dark haired male and Mark parted his lips to speak,

"With him, he'll be able to help us sabotage the Elitists' defenses to give us enough time to sneak in and out to get Osamu's comrades. I expect you all to get along with him."

"Yes, Commander."
