"Ugh. That's all the words I have for the hell I'm in!" Rudie screamed internally. She misses the old days where she was free to roam to her heart's content and never having to worry about being caught and put in a home, but that's not the case anymore. The only thing she can say about the group home she's in is that it's a living hell. She's been in the place for just over a month now and the raven-haired girl has completely lost track of Klaus.

Rudie sat in the corner with The Scarlet Letter on her lap completely blanking out the world around her, trapped in a story that took her back to the 1600s, although inaccurate, the story itself being written almost two-hundred years later, but still helped her escape her reality and remind her of a time when life was good.

.

Everything was calm until a man and a young girl walked in. The brunette girl looked around sixteen, maybe seventeen at the most, and the man about twenty-one, or quite possibly twenty-two.

Rudie's gaze narrowed on the young woman, "that can't be her" she girl thought to herself.

The raven-haired girl took in a deep breath and scowled, her gaze lingering on the man, "she's human, but he's not" she growled internally, "this is my chance" she thought.

Miss Myers, the woman who ran the home, quickly came running out greeted them, "Hello, how may I help you two?" The older woman asked the pair.

The dark-haired man leaned over and whispered into the girl's ear, Rudie listened in carefully "we're looking for someone around your age to make up for my lie of Stefan and I having a younger sister" he explained to her.

Rudie perked up slightly.

The brunette girl smiled, "Yes, we're looking for a young girl between the ages of fifteen and seventeen" she explained.

Miss Myers stared at the pair in confusion but quickly nodded, ignoring their odd request. She gave them a simple nod, "okay, if you follow me the older girls are towards the back" the greying woman told them.

The pair followed her to where Rudie was sitting. There were a few other girls sitting around her who were all quick to perk up at the sight of the handsome, dark-haired stranger. Rudie couldn't help but roll her eyes at their reactions.

The man smirked and leaned over to whisper in the brunette's ear, "which one looks most like Stefan and I" he questioned.

Rudie couldn't help but laugh, "this guy is taking a lie to a whole new level" she thought to herself.

The young brunette cleared her throat awkwardly, "three at the far end" she told him.

He gave a quick nod of approval at her choice and Miss Myers practically came skipping over, "anyone here?" She asked, and they nodded.

The man cleared his throat, "do you mind if you we talk to the three girls towards the end one at a time, privately, to make our final decision" he asked in a soft, husky voice, raising a thick eyebrow.

The older woman nodded, and the girls all stood up. Being one of the girls chosen, Rudie had to wait while the other two went.

.

Rudie had been waiting for about thirty minutes before the last girl finally came out, her expression was blank, just like the last girl had come out. The girl simply shrugged, ignoring it, and walked into the empty room.

The raven-haired girl sat down on a chair opposite them and smirked, "okay, before this begins can I just say that this feels like an interrogation?" She joked lightly.
