55 • I Was Helpless

Flashbacks continued-

The side of the his story was still unfolded. He was crying reading the letter she left for him.

"If you have ever loved me. Please never come behind me. Never. I don't want to see your face."

K "Papa? What's happening here? Sahil aur aap? Yaha ho kya raha hai koi mujhe batayega please!" He said frustrated. He got an urgent call from Sahil where his father picked it up saying he was in a big trouble.

K "Papa? Apne kaha tha kuch problem hua hai but I feel everything is fine here."

Sahil "Kartik, relax for a minute." He said calmly yet there was a smirk on his face.

K "Please jo bhi kehna hai tell me clearly."  He was getting impatient each passing second.

Sahil "Okay. So directly baat karte hai. I want you to break your own engagement right now."

K "Excuse me?" He asked shocked. Like why would he ever do that? Seriously? He was so close to beat him up.

Sahil "You heard me."

K "Stop your nonsense!"

Sahil "Fine! Phir Naira ke saath jo hoga uski zimmedar tum hoge."

Naira? Why did he say that? Is she safe? There was a fear in his heart when he took Naira's name.

K "What do you mean?" He asked keeping himself calm. He needed to be in control at that moment.

Sahil "Do you know where she is?

K "Ghar pe hogi aur kaha!" He stammered not sure of his own words. Was she at home?

Sahil "You are so mistaken Kartik! MG road ke bahar kisi food shop pe hai woh. And I can do anything with her now."

K "Sahil!" He glared at him furiously. How did he even dare to think about hurting her!

Sahil "Come on Kartik. Abhi toh kuch kiya bhi nahi. But jaldi hi tumhe kuch surprise milega. And trust me Kartik. Isbaar tum kuch nhi kar paoge!"

K "Sahil, why are you doing this? And papa aap kuch bol kyu nahi rahe!" His father was standing there like a silent audience.

Sahil "Naira thik hai Kartik. Aur tabtak theek rahegi jabtak tum meri baat manoge."

K "And you expect me to listen to your nonsense?" He asked angrily.

Sahil "Meri nahi toh apne Papa ki baat manlo. Uncle please speak." He got more confused.

K "Papa? What's the matter? Come on! Speak up."

Manish "Kartik, Please baat manlo uski. please. Naira ko bhul jao."

Like what was he saying? He couldn't get his father's words.

K "Papa, do you realise what are you saying?" He was amazed by his father's words. How could he say that!

Manish "Sahil has the property papers of our contract. Yeh deal humari company ke liye bohot important hai. I can't lose it. He just wants you to break this engagement. Tum please kardo yeh mere liye. Please!" 

K "It is just a contract. Koi solution dhund lenge hum." He said in disbelief. Like for a contract he would leave his Naira?

Mansih "Nahi beta koi solution nahi hai. I did everything possible. tum meri baat manjao Kartik. Tumne mujhse promise kiya tha Kartik tum yeh contract lose nahi karoge. This is your dadajii's dream.
