BEHIND THE POSH, IVY-COVERED WALLS AND COBBLESTONE STEPS OF OAKWOOD PREPARATORY lies dark secrets, broken hearts, and the occasional scandalizing issue that'll rip the institution apart.

Parker Hatfield has a secret. A rather big one, actually. One that had the potential to ruin careers and tear down esteemed reputations. She doesn't really know if she should tell everyone about it. Parker wanted revenge, she craved it and dreamt of it in nights where that's the only thing she could think of. But Parker was also nice, and sweet, and funny. Parker Hatfield lightens the mood with her snarky sarcasm, well-timed jokes, and magic tricks. Parker is supposed to be happy. Parker is supposed to be perfect.

She used to be. Now, she just thinks she is, maybe in a 50/50 ratio. But she's not really sure.

And so, Parker will hide. She'll take her tiny little secret and she'll hide it in her tiny little box, she'll hide it deep inside the corners of her brain. Hopefully, she'll forget about it. But if she won't, at least she'll have her friends to keep her from crumbling into nothingness.

Parker, Athena, and Aurora. The three little heiresses. The nicest and richest Heathers' you'll ever meet. Or as Aurora joked once when they all walked into school wearing matching cloche hats, the quintessential mean girl squad, but a whole lot nicer with a lot less pink. The three of them were all born into families adorned with silver and gold. And the three of them are the most popular girls in school, which is kind of cringe, now that she thought about it. That label made them seem like they were characters in a Gossip Girl-esque TV show, maybe they are. Parker's life definitely seems like it was handcrafted inside a writer's room.

Even as her best friends, Athena and Aurora have absolutely no idea what her secret is. She'd probably take it to her grave, but she probably wouldn't. The only way her secret will be able to get out of her mouth is if someone whispers it first.

And she knows him, he's an established professor, the youngest to ever work in a prestigious academy like Oakwood. He'd never dare blab about his little secret. Their little secret.

Everyone thinks they're both perfect. Enough for the two to believe that they are perfect.

They're not. They're far from it, actually. But they've built themselves a cage, woven from their fantasies and the products of their wishful thinking. If you think you're perfect, and you've thought of it hard enough to end up actually believing it. Then, maybe you are perfect.

Parker thinks she's perfect. Mr. Professor thinks he is too. Just as long as the other won't ruin it.

...

Summer Sierra gets asked a lot of things in interviews. One of them, and also the most frequently asked, is why she got the part for Parker Hatfield so easily.

Summer liked to say that it was fate, maybe even luck. That she managed to catch the eye of an esteemed Hollywood Agent because she was just there. That she managed to earn the most coveted role for a TV show that was aiming to be the next Friends, simply because she was good. That she managed to climb her way to the top bare-footed next to two girls who've been wearing Louboutin heels their entire life, simply because she worked hard.

But the real reason is because Parker Hatfield is Summer Sierra.

Parker contained facets of Summer that she didn't even know she could see in a TV character. They were the exact same person, and Stephanie Hayward, award-winning director and screenwriter, saw that. And when she saw it, she threw the role to Summer and she wore it as if it were a silk dress that fit her like a glove. The role was made for her.

And now that Summer's facing the exact same thing Parker is currently dealing with. Now that Summer realized that they have the exact same friends, the exact same life, and the exact same secrets. Now, she knows.

The role was made for her. Her and only her.
