Chapter 4: Indomitable will

Start from the beginning

And he left. And in my solitude I started asking the same questions again.

Am I the Dragon Warrior?

Am I strong enough for this?

Do I have what it takes?

I guess the only way to find out is to stick around awhile longer

Sorry Master Tigress...

I'm not going anywhere.

Mongolia no one's P.O.V.

Zeng flapped as hard as he could trying to fly as fast as possible back to the Jade Palace. He couldn't believe it; the very thing he had hoped never happened.

Tai Lung was free.

The warden had assured him that there was no chance that Tai Lung could escape, that he would stay down there until the end of his days. He said there was just no way it could be done.

But Tai Lung found a way.

All the precautions, the crossbows, the guards and the explosives were not enough to keep the fallen master in, at least not forever.

And now Zeng flew as fast as his wings would carry him to deliver the message the snow leopard had given him.

The announcement of Tai Lung's imminent arrival.

Jade Palace Aleksei P.O.V

My body had been screaming in pain, and it was only the third round with Master Viper. I was lying on my back, catching my breath. Bruises had already started to spring up from the places where her tail had struck me. I turned myself on my stomach and pushed myself up, I finally got to my feet. My chest was hurting, taking a breath caused a twinge of pain. I placed my hand on my side to feel if any ribs were cracked.

They weren't. Some good news at last, eh? But I did feel a bruise forming, so take the good with the bad I guess. By her heart and blood pressure, I could feel Viper was concerned and surprised. She was obviously concerned for my well being, and was surprised that I was able to get to my feet. I could feel the same two feelings on three other masters, the fourth, for some had a blood pressure that tells me he is mad, but I also could feel he is slightly content.

The fifth one, from what I can gather, was just staring intently at me, keeping a close eye on my every move. I was beginning to think its a little strange, she has done nothing ever since the sparring matches had started, what was she expecting to see? Or maybe she just enjoyed watching my me get my ass kicked.

Although this is not a beating, it is a lesson. Every moment I spend fighting, I learn more and more about them.

-Are you sure you want to continue?- A rather sweet voice asked me, pulling me from thoughts. I could feel Master Viper staring intently at me. I didn't even answer, I just got back in a stance. I could feel she was surprised, everyone was.

And that's pretty much how it went for the rest of the day. After being punched, kicked, beaten, battered and thrown, I was the one who learn from all of them. The easiest to learn and defeat was Master Monkey, while the hardest one was Master Crane. Obviously because he can fly.

Hours later

I got to my feet. I've endured this kind of pain, and worse, countless times, but that doesn't make any better. I had bruises in every part they hit me, My right femur was about to fracture, and I could feel the warm blood gushing out from one of the wounds I have open. I still got to my feet. My next opponent turn out to be Master Shifu, and let me tell you it was like fighting the entire Furious Five all at once. The red panda was absolutely relentless. Giving me a very little amount of time to defend myself or fight back.

After I punched him in his face, he threw me to the ground. I landed on my stomach... and he landed on my back. Don't ask me how that happended, I wasn't paying attention. I know I can win against an experienced master like him, I just need to keep fighting.

-Well are you ready to give up, wolf?- He asked me short of breath already.

Give up?

Give up?

-I already gave up- I said to him. He jumped off my back, harder than I expected. I could tell by his blood pressure and heart rate that he was mad.

-So why are you still here?- He didn't know, so I explained to him.

-I gave up on giving up- When he didn't answer I sat up and turned around, and I could feel his surprise and most importantly fear. Because someone who does not give up, is someone truly invincible. And everyone should fear and respect an invincible opponent.

Tigress P.O.V.

I had watched the white wolf be put through a hellish training regimen that should have crippled him or killed him long ago. It was understandable though, the training wasn't meant to make him stronger, it was meant to scare him off. Anyone else would have started running to the other side of China by now, but he just kept getting up and getting stronger.

I'll admit his determination is something to be admired. When he was paired up with me I didn't hold back and he still received my attacks as if they were nothing, I even received many of his attacks. Somehow he is just getting stronger.

Then Shifu stepped forward and announced that he would fight the wolf next, all I could think was He's done for. I actually thought Master Shifu was going to be more brutal with the wolf than we all would've liked, I'm sure everyone thought that. But the wolf didn't even seem to feel any pain, he even got to hit and kick Master Shifu, and believe me his attacks are very painful. Then Shifu asked him if he conceded defeat, but what I heard the wolf said shocked me beyond belief.

He gave up

On giving up

Now I understand. Why he never stayed down, Why he always kept fighting. He wasn't being stubborn, it had nothing to do with pride, or having something to prove. This wolf literally and figuratively...

Gave up on giving up

It suddenly reminded me of when I first came to the Jade Palace, after my first day in the place I would call my home. Master Oogway had told me once, so that I would never give up on my training (Heaven forbid that should happen) a real warrior doesn't know the meaning of the word quit.

And neither this wolf. For the third time in two days this wolf had surprised me. I really can't wait to see what he does next.
