Being a seventeen year old girl in high school is bad enough as it is, but when you're Stella it's a little bit worse. Stella was what you'd call a loner. Not the stereotypical loner that is brooding and chooses to have no friends. No she would love to have more than two friends but no one seems to like her. She's okay with that.
Well, not really but she tries to be.
Stella walks to her usual spot for lunch, the table at the back corner of the cafeteria, and she takes a seat waiting for her friend Alex. Alex is a super confident, funny, and extra young man who has been in Stellas life since they were three.
"Hello Star my love, how has your morning been?" Alex asks sitting down. Stella chuckles a bit and answers.
"Well, I had my headphones taken from me in first period because I was 'too distracted'.... I was doing my work!" She exclaims. Alex bursts out in laughter.
"So it's been good?" He jokingly asks.
"Oh yes of course." She shakes her head and continues to scroll on her phone.
Lunch lasts for an hour or so, so for half of that time the two spend it talking and joking with each other until Alex says they should walk around.
"Hey come with me to find Jordan? I think he's outside on the football field." Alex says.
"Oh uh, sure? I guess so." Stella says as her stomach ties up into knots. She loves Jordan. He's sweet. His friends on the other hand are sadly the stereotypical jocks. Not all of them but definitely most of them.
"It'll be okay, you know Jordan always stands up for you whenever anyone acts like douche bags to you." Alex says. It's true. Jordan has always defended Stella against anyone talking to her out of line. For instance, one of his teammates told Stella that if she smiled more that someone might be able to stomach talking to her. Jordan proceeded to tell him that she probably cant smile in his presence because his face makes her physically ill. She smiled after he said that.
Once they got to the field they see Jordan sitting on the bench drinking some water. He sees the two and smiles.
"Hey guys! How's everything going today?" He asks genuinely interested.
"I got sent out of class because this girl and I got into it about me not standing for the pledge. She told me I was disrespectful. I told her she was ignorant... and ugly." Alex says.
"What's that the third time you've got sent out of class this week? You know it's only Thursday right?" Jordan chuckles while shaking his head. Alex just smiles at him.
As the three continued talking a girl walked up to Stella. Sophie. She's what you'd call a bully. more specifically, Stellas bully. Stellas hands start shaking immediately once she sees her.
"Hey Jordan, I have a quick question for you." Sophie says in flirtatious tone.
"Uh yeah what's up?" He asks.
"Well I was just wondering what you're doing tomorrow?" She asks with a smirk. My god. I don't know if she could be more obvious if she tried.
"Well i'm actually going on a date tomorrow. Sorry." He says.
"Wait really? With who?" She asks, obviously upset.
"Alex." He says with the biggest smile. Alex looks at him and smiles too. The thing about Jordan and Alex is, they've always liked each other but Jordan only came out at the beginning for the school year. It's now March. Alex on the other hand has been out since fifth grade when he said,
"Girls are gross. I want to kiss a boy not a girl."
And that was that.
"Wait. You and Alex? Seriously?" She asks, her homophobia slipping out a bit.
"Yeah? And what about it Sophie?" Alex snaps, Sophie clearly getting on his nerves. Jordan stands up in front of Alex.
"Look Sophie, please just go away. You're just causing drama like you always do." Jordan says. Stella cracks a smile. Sophie notices.
"And what are you smiling at, Stella?" she sneered. She's never liked Stella. Especially since Jordan became friends with her and Alex.
"Oh nothing. It was nothing sorry." She answers, eyes wide. Sophie rolls her eyes.
"Jeez don't have an aneurism. Whatever i'm leaving." She says turning around and walking away.
"Christ! Doesn't she get tired of being a bitch all of the time?" Alex asks rather loudly. Jordan engulfs him in a bear hug to quiet him.
"Please don't start something. Just let it go Alex." Jordan says with a smile, still hugging Alex.
"Hey where are you guys going tomorrow? For your date." Stella asks. She hears Alex mumble something into Jordan's chest. Jordan laughs, releasing him from the hug.
"I said, we're going to have dinner and go to my place to watch movies." Alex tells her while pushing Jordan away from him playfully.
"Well that sounds great!"
