"Excuse me, I was already wet."
"I know, but I wanted to cannonball in. You were just too close." I said playfully.
"Oh yeah? Well then you need to get more wet too." he said splashing me as hard as he could.
"Hey, watch it Chris!" I shouted laughing. "I don't want to choke on any water."
"It's okay, because if you do, I'll do mouth to mouth." he said teasingly. I just grinned and rolled my eyes at him. He is trying so hard isn't he?
"Hey, wanna race?" he said motioning to the deep end.
"Sure, why not?" I said swimming to wall of the shallow end. "I will beat you, you know that right?" He looks at me with a skeptical expression.
"Do you know how many times I've swam here?" I said pointing to myself. "I will definitely beat you, Evans." I say focusing in front of me.
"You're on...." he said trailing off.
"Castiglione." I said with a smile. He nodded.
"Wow, that's a interesting mouthful." he said jokingly.
"Oh please, it's not that hard to say. You should hear my entire family, then you'll have a communication breakdown."
He laughs and looks at me with a hopeful look. "Well hopefully, one day I'll have that pleasure of having that communication breakdown."
"Perhaps." I say with a smile. "Ok, ready Evans?"
"Ready, Castiglione." he says confidently.
On the count of three, we race about 20 or more times back and forth from end to end. I do backstroke while he does freestyle. Looking on my left, I see he's faster than I thought. I was definitely faster though, so I sped up and gave it my all.
"On your left." I said with a laugh.
He laughed back but I knew he was determined to win, but so was I.
"On your left." I said again.
"Okay, watch it Castiglione." he said with a playful tone.
One last time I wanted to say it.
"On your left. Again." I said once more, with a devilish but still playful grin.
"Ok, I get it Erin! You're faster than me!" he said feeling a sense of defeat.
"I know." I said confidently, while I whisked past him yet again. After 30 laps back and forth, I had won.
"And my hypothesis was correct," I said swimming up to him, "I am undoubtedly the superior swimmer."
"It seems so." he said, accepting his loss.
CHRIS' POV
Wow, she really is fast. Really fast. No wonder she's in great shape. All those curves she has really does something. She worked hard for her body, and I'm proud of her for that. That just makes her even more alluring. She's not at all shallow or self absorbed in her looks. It's actually kind of cute how modest she is. She doesn't understand how gorgeous she really is. And the fact that she thinks she's better than me is absurd. But honestly, she probably is. I'll still egg her on though, because it's fun to mess with her. It's so cute when she likes to be right.
ERIN'S POV
"So, you accept your defeat, Evans? Wow, that's a surprise." I said sarcastically.
"Hey hey," he said with his cute Boston accent shining through, making me smile. "I could've won if I wanted to," he said to me, "but I'm tired from working out all the time," he said, clenching his arms slightly where you could the definition. "It takes immense effort to get the Cap's upper body."
