This incident happened on the first day of the reopening after our summer vacations.
We were asked to write about our holidays and how we spent it in arabic as our project.
Our teacher had already warned us not to use google translate as it is not reliable most of the time. Google translate translates english sentences literally into arabic. So most of the time the sentence made turns out to be meaningless.
Well, Rhea being the 'intelligent' Rhea used google translate to translate ' I hung out with my friends during the vacations' into arabic. But when google translated it into arabic, the sentence was changed into something completely meaningless!
She submitted her project and soon she was called by our arabic teacher during our class.
Teacher: Rhea!
Rhea: yes ma'am!
Teacher: what are you trying to say here? Tell me what did you mean by this sentence! (Shows her that changed sentence)
Rhea: I meant ' I hung out with my friends '
Teacher: did you hang out with your friends in the restaurant?
Rhea: no, I hung out with them at the mall!
Teacher: then why did you write 'I am a restaurant??!!!!'
Rhea: uhmmm...mmm ( trying hard not to laugh)
Teacher: you used google translate! How many times did I tell you not to use google translate??........
Our teacher went on for the whole period scolding Rhea for not listening to her . ( I knew she asked us not to use google translate but how the hell was I supposed to write a para on how we spent our summer vacation in arabic?! I never thought google translate would betray me like that:( im never ever using google translate again -Rhea)
As for the rest of us in the class, we were trying so hard not to laugh out loud! So was Rhea! Teacher 's expressions were so funny and Rhea was trying to suppress her laugh and it wasn't working for her either!
Once in a while she ( teacher) would turn to us and ask 'what are you laughing for? Mindless ones!!' And we would burst out laughing!
This would just make her even more angry and she would give one whole chapter to write and two chapters to learn for test as our homework for the next day...
Which is when we would regret ever laughing in her class....
Failing in arabic would mean repeating the same class for a year !!!
But does that ever stop us from being in such situations? Nope!!! The next day, the same routine follows:
trouble....teacher gets angry....we laugh....teacher gets even more angry....gives tons of home works ✏️.... teacher is satisfied....we regret....
