A/N: This was written the same day as the introduction, so if comments were left i didn't see them!! Anyway, enjoy the first chapter!!

'Great....yet another day of classes...' Maki thought to herself as she put her hair into the twin tail styles she always kept it in. 'At least Kyoko will be there...'

She slung her backpack across her back, frowning at herself in the mirror. 'Rantaro and Kokichi are wrong. Kaito doesn't like me. He could never love a murderer.' A sharp sigh was heard from the girl as she walked past the mirror on the way out to her first class.

As she entered the lecture hall her first class was located in, her crimson eyes scanned the room for Kyoko. She caught a flash of lavender hair. "Kirigiri- hey." Maki waved a bit to her friend. She took a seat, pulling her laptop out of her backpack.

"Ah, Harukawa. Nice to see you." Kyoko sat down next to Maki, taking out her laptop as well. The two girls weren't much for chatter, both just wanting to get their work done.

"Hey Maki, mind if I ask you about something?" Kyoko asked, standing up.
"Yeah."
"So...I've noticed you looking at Momota a lot..."
"Kirigiri, we're friends. Nothing more."
"Harukawa, I'm the Ultimate Detective. I think I can tell when my friend has a crush..."
Maki frowned. "It's not like that. Really." She slung her backpack across her shoulders and walked out of the classroom.

Some time later....

Maki stood under one of the trees surrounding campus, a pair of headphones covering her ears. She felt a light tap on her shoulder. "What the hell?!" She spun around quickly, grabbing the wrist of whoever had snuck up on her.

"Hey! Haru~Maki!"

'Oh. It was him. Kaito Momota, Luminary of the stars and the same idiot who had tried to kiss her that long, long night ago.' She shot a glare at him, brushing a piece of hair out of her face. "Idiot! Don't sneak up on me like that." Maki hissed, dropping his wrist. "Do you want to die?!"

"Haru~Maki! I just wanted to check up on my friend, and make sure she was okay!" He rubbed his wrist a bit. Seeing him do so gave Maki a slight twinge of regret.

"I'm fine." She grabbed her arm, glancing down at the floor. "How'd you even know where I was?"

He rubbed the back of his neck a bit. "I just saw ya and figured I would come chat with ya! We are friends after all!" Kaito gave her a quick thumbs up, the stupid grin she had come to both love and despise on his face.

"Dumbass." She shook her head. A slight frown was upon her face as she dug her toe into the dirt.

"Cmon Haru~Maki! Lighten up a bit! Ya know I care about you, right? You seemed down so I figured I would check on ya!" He slung his arm across her shoulders, grinning happily.

Maki blushed a bit at his touch. 'Stop it Maki...you know he only sees you as a friend...get real with yourself. Because, who could love a murderer?' She grabbed his arm and shoved him off of her rather harshly. "Don't touch me." A slight "Oof!" noise was heard from Kaito as he was shoved. "Haru~Maki! Wait!"

But it was too late. She had taken her stuff and left, like she always did. Walk away from the situation, and you didn't have to think about it anymore. Feelings? Push em aside. Bury them deeper. Forget about them. Feelings and emotions made her stray away from what mattered. Rantaro and Kokichi were wrong. That was simply the truth.

"Haru~Maki!"

A/N: AHH this chapter is really short, I promise the rest will be a lot longer!!
