"why did you have to park so far?" catalina whined as she walked beside both her friends, scott and stiles. she regretted having put on a pair of new boots which she hadn't broken in yet, and walking two blocks away from the car was starting to make her feet hurt. "you're gonna have to bring the car when we leave, i'm not walking two blocks again."

"oh, don't be such a baby." stiles rolled his eyes at catalina, who pouted in response. his eyes glanced at scott, who had been silent all the way. "what?" he asked him.

scott looked up from his shoes, "what? what do you mean 'what'?"

" i mean, 'what' and you know what."

"'what' what?"

"that look you were giving."

"i didn't give a look."

"no, there was a distinct look, scott."

"what look?"

"if one of you says 'what' one more time, i'm gonna slap you both." catalina cut in, already annoyed with their unresolved banter.

"scott, you were giving a look that says that the last thing you feel like doing right now is going to a party." stiles started using his hands as he talked, he always did that when he wanted to make his point clear, catalina noticed that always.

"it's not that," scott shook his head, lifting his shoulders uncertainly. "it just seems a little weird going to a different high school's party."

"what? oh, my god, one drink, all right? you'll be fine. you've got cat here." stiles pointed to the girl beside him, the white ribbon in her hair catching his eyes. "look, i went to nursery school with this girl, okay? she promised to introduce us to all of her friends, so tonight is the night. tonight, no allison and no lydia. tonight, we're moving on!"

catalina frowned at the mention of her best friend's name, but she took in stiles' words. moving on. "you know, what? hell yeah, moving on!" catalina nodded, adjusting her coat.

"you're right," scott nodded softly as he put his phone in his pocket.

"that's right i'm right." stiles agreed.

"moving on." scott stopped in his tracks, taking a deep breath.

"we're moving on!" catalina encouraged.

"onward and upward!"

"okay, let's do this,"

"that's what i'm talking about!" stiles raised his hand, and scott smacked it, from the front, then back. it was their own high-five they always did ever since middle school.

"hey, what about my high five?" catalina pouted, "i'm also moving on!"

"yeah, from what? your coffee addiction?" stiles fired back, as the three of them headed to the front door.

"that was hurtful." catalina whispered, a hand on her heart as if it damaged her greatly. "i know you think i have no heart, stilinski, but i have urgently need to move on from this guy."

stiles' ears perked up at the mention of 'this guy', immediately curious. not that he was jealous, but he knew that 'this guy' was out of catalina's league, and she deserved someone good. not that he cared, or anything. "what guy?" he asked, the question unintentionally leaving his lips.
