Wynter's POV

We finally came to a beach with a few market stalls and an ice-cream van scattered around the outside of it.

Jaden looked back for the however many-ith time to check that I was still there, and like I had done all the other times I offered him a small smile in reply which he sighed at once again before leading me to the ice-cream van. I felt like a child he was being forced to babysit.

He went over to the van, myself in tow.
Ice-cream was the food of breakups... or of any time really, it helped make everything better, so this didn't surprise me.

I waited near the van as he told the man what he wanted and handed him the money before having two slushies placed in his hands, making me furrow my brows as he made his way back over with a frown on his face.
He extended one of the slushies to me, barely even looking at me as he did so, not bothering to say a word to me infact and I very hesitantly and confusedly took it.

"Thanks?" I basically whispered unsurely, which he just nodded at before leading me over to the dock of the beech. He sat on the edge of it and I followed suit, making sure to leave a fair bit of distance between us as he sipped on his slushie. I eyed mine suspiciously before copying his actions.

He'd made his way over here with ease, leading me to believe that maybe this was where he went whenever he disappeared from the Sway house in a bad mood. His calm place, and it somewhat made sense that he didn't want to take me there when I reflected on what this place represented to him. It was his place of comfort and peace  and I began to feel like I was intruding.

We sat there for a while, just in a somewhat comfortable (?) silence, both of us occasionally sipping on our drink and he'd release a deep sigh every so often.

The sun began to set at some point, and I slowly took my phone out to try and capture a picture of it.
Jaden scoffed, "Of course she likes when the sky turns pretty colours."

My brows furrowed at that, resisting the urge to snap but like c'mon, what was his problem with me? Or sunsets? Or pictures?

He noticed my look and shook his head with a smirk.
"What?" He asked with an attitude. McFucking excuse you?

I shook my head, turning my attention back to the sky, still biting my tongue. I will not snap at this boy.

"Too perfect to argue back too? Of course." He questioned, a bitter tone in his voice and I was forced to turn to him again.
"I never said I was perfect." I informed him, "And I'm not, frankly. No-one is." I added and he shook his head again.
"No, no, of course not." He sarcastically agreed with me before sipping on his drink.
"I... I literally never... forget it." I ended with a sigh, shaking my head as I looked down at the ocean beneath me, watching my feet sway slightly.

"You ever get the urge to jump?" He randomly asked and I nodded.
"Yeah. Now." I replied jokingly yet bitterly, making him chuckle a little and despite myself I smiled too, not daring to look up and let him see that.
"You're probably too perfect for that too, huh?"
I practically snorted at that, shaking my head as I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know where you've gotten this 'perfect' thing from, Hossler, but you need to drop it cause it's far from true."
"So why do you act like it then?"
"Act like what?" I questioned dumbly, looking at him from the corner of my eye and he rolled his eyes. You keep doing that, bud. Maybe you'll find a brain back there.
