When The Daffodils Bloom

Prologue

"Always try to see the best in people."

I ended up my report by quoting the lines of Nick Carraway from The Great Gatsby. My classmates started to give me a round of applause. I smiled and started walking back to my seat.

"I like how you use that theory in order for you to come up with that kind of interpretation. So you see how I wanted you to fully understand the different theories here in literary criticism because you were able to explore and understand deeply the literature you were able to read. Thank you so much for your great presentation, Ms. Tan. That's all for today. See you next meeting."

"Sa wakas natapos rin. Sumasakit na ulo ko sa subject na to."

I rolled my eyes upon hearing that words again.

"Patience babe. Patience." I grin and now she's starting to get annoyed.

"Sana all may patience Mia." Inis niyang sabi sa akin.

"Tara na nga. Nagugutom na ako."

We are walking to the food court to grab our lunch when Addie asked to stop for a moment.

"Akala ko ba gutom ka na?"

"Saglit lang to Mia. Panoorin muna natin sila." Then she pointed out some group of guys who are performing in the student center of the Engineering department. Daming time tumambay ah!

"Don't you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow

I was looking intently at the guy who is singing. Well, he is a good-looking guy and I guess a lot of girls adore him. They look happy while they are having a mini-performance here.

"God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young

It's hunting season and the lambs are on the run

Searching for meaning

But are we all lost stars, trying to light up the dark?"

"Go Marcus!!!!" sigaw ni Addie.

"Do you know them, babe?"

"Hmmm, yeah. Some of them are my classmates before then si Marcus naman yung crush ko sa kanila." She giggled.

"Where is he?" I try pointing at those guys.

"The drummer boy!!!"

I was trying to look for the face of that drummer guy when I noticed that the vocalist of the group is looking at me. When I look at him too, he just winked at me.

Malandi.

"Let's go na Addie. We need to eat our lunch. Magrereview pa tayo sa English and American Lit.

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot. Sorry babe, tara na. Mahirap ng walang maisagot mamaya kay Sir."

We resume walking to the food court. Well, it's just an alibi. I know he's a good-looking guy, pero ang harot niya. I just need an excuse to save myself from that embarrassing moment. I just wish I will not be able to see his face around the campus.
