"We gotta process these people first, O'Connor you good to go alone to the hospital?" chief asks as paramedics rush over and I stand up letting them do their job.

"Oh yea Chief I'm good" Finley winces holding up a thumbs up.

"I got your night shift man" I chuckle.

Finley chuckles "asshole" I smile at him.

"I'll see you at the hospital, Yea?" I ask my partner. He nods.

"Let's go, ill take you back to the precinct" Chief Jameson says, I nod.

"Take good care him boys. He's a keeper" I tell the paramedics and they nod.

"Lets go, we have processing to do" Chief Jameson says. I follow him, putting my gun away.

It was way into the night when the processing was done, it was a lot and it was tedious and the worst part of the job, the desk work. I would rather much be in the field. Collapsing into my desk chair I let out a tired sigh. I had been here since seven thirty this morning and knew it would be way past seven thirty the next morning when I'd be heading home.

"Hughes!" A voice booms. I open my eyes and lean on my hand as I tilt my chair to see Chief Jameson walking out of his office, "ready to go see O'Connor?" He asks.

"Oh yea excited to go see my stupid best friend who got himself shot" I say sarcastically standing up and grabbing my wind breaker.

"That's the spirit son, Allen? Come on" Chief Jameson tilts his head to the elevators as we walk over. Allen nods and walks over with us.

The drive to the nearest hospital was a few blocks away from the precinct which was good but the three of us were tired and the silence in the patrol car was the indication of our tired we were.

We walked into the ER heading immediately towards the nurses station where two young girls, possibly around my age sat doing what I could assume paper work.

"May we help you?" The girl on the left asks, placing her coffee cup down.

"Chief Jameson, one of my men was shot earlier today at the riot. We'd like to see him" My boss says with a small smile. The two girls look at each other and shrug slightly.

"let me just check if he's stable and awake"the same girl that welcome us says and stands up walking away from her friend, who gave her a pleading look as she stood up.

"Is there anyone else in charge here?" I ask, I didn't mean to sound rude. I was tired and slightly annoyed at Finley cause he was always reckless and now he's sitting in a hospital bed. The girl sitting in front of us refrains herself from giving me a dirty look.

Chief Jameson turns to me slightly and gives me a pointed look as if to tell me to stand down.

"My manager is assisting a code blue" she tells me. The ER doors open and in steps another women in scrubs.

"Hi Erica" the girl behind the desk smiles.

"Hey, looks like you've got your work cut out for you" the lady says to the younger one as she gives her a pointed look, "What can I help you men with?" the lady who just walked in asks us.

"Waiting for to see our cop for a statement"
Chief Jameson says gently.

"Was he in the fire or riot?" Erica asks.
