"It was nothing"

You say

With that charming smile

That always gets me

And so I believed you

Foolishly

Naively

"I don't know"

You laugh

Complimenting my hair instead

In that smooth way only you can

And I drop it

Foolishly

Naively

"She meant nothing"

You shrug

With that carefree attitude

That always gets me

And my anger melts away again

Foolishly

Naively

"I'm sorry"

You apologize

With those sad puppy eyes

That always get me

And I forgive you

Foolishly

Naively

"One more chance"

You beg

In such an earnest tone

That always gets me

And I grant it again

Foolishly

Naively

"Her? No idea"

You sneer

And turn your back to me

To face her

And I finally get it

Much too late

Foolishly

Naively
