The Full Moon

A long time ago my great, great, great, great, grandmother, queen Veronica, had an encounter with a human. No one knows where it came from or how it had gotten into our kingdom, all we knew was that it was injured and needed help. Queen Veronica, being the naive part human, part fox fleta she was, took the thing in and groomed it, dressing it in the finest royal garments. Once it had regained its strength it told us about its world and how beautiful it used to be, it told of how it needed help from us to save its world from destroying itself. Queen Veronica longed to help the thing that she went to king Phillip begging him to open a portal to the world so she can go back with the human and save its world. Of course king Phillip was blind and allowed her to save the humans, and he suffered greatly for his arrogance. After queen Veronica saved the human world she stayed for a while and fell in love with the human, and pledged to come back every month to see him. After a year king Phillip finally noticed and decided to close the portal to the human world forever.

Of course queen Veronica pleaded to the king to allow at least one fleta to go to the world every new moon to ensure that the human world stayed out of harm's way,and of course king Phillip still loved the lying cheating woman so he allowed one fleta to visit the world every new moon and serve the humans in whatever way they needed. It is all thanks to those morons that I princess Julica am instead of drinking tea and going to balls, attending a school specially made for the fleta assigned to protect the humans every new moon.

"Lady Julica," madam Layla, my teacher, calls me after class. "Yes," I reply trying to sound elegant and not irritated, failing miserably in the process. "Lady Julica, the king and queen have called for you." Madam Layla says, knowing that I was trying my best to be polite. Nodding I excuse myself from the conversation walking off campus to a limo waiting for me. "Julie!!" someone yells right before Henry pops out of the front seat to open the door for me. I turn around to see my bestie Angelica running towards me with open arms. "Angie?! What are you doing?" I ask, squeezing her. "I came to say bye, you didn't think you could leave school without saying goodbye!" Angie says, slipping her hand into her denim jean's pockets. "Hey, it's not like I'm leaving forever, I'll be back at school tomorrow," I pat her brunette head, and turn to the car with Henry waiting patiently with the door open. "Right, well see you tomorrow princess," Angie said with a playful smirk, she knows how much i hate being called princess. "You too, potato brain," I dip down into the car before she can come up with another remark.

Once I arrive at the castle, I change out of my t shirt and jeans from school and into a sky blue dress with pastel yellow details. I style my blonde hair into two top buns and fasten a black and yellow wrist watch to my wrist. To tie everything together I place my golden tiara atop my head and apply a slight natural blush to my face. I hurry to my parents' private meeting room and just before I make it to the door I slow to a walk and rearrange everything to make sure I look like my parents expect. I stop at the door and take a deep breath to calm my nerves, and delicately knock on the door. The two grand doors simultaneously open with a creek.

My mother and father are standing across the room with worried looks on their face. "Mother, father, you called?" I ask, sounding a lot more elegant than earlier at school. I walk further into the room tense, trying to remember to keep my posture strong. "Julica," my mother says sturn. "Why are you hiding your mark? All members of the royal family for generations have worn that mark with pride, you mustn't disgrace the family by hiding it." Ugh. I forgot about mother's strict rules with this stupid mark. I allow energy to flow through me, from my chest up to my right cheek. A feeling of warmth and comfort follows the energy flow and gather in the center of my cheek, I hold back tears from the burning sensation I experience until a white rhombus appears on my cheek.

"Done, is that all you needed?" I ask, trying not to sound too annoyed. "No, why don't you have a seat Julica," my father motions to a chair in front of a desk. I take a seat, and notice that there are moon cycle calendars on their desk. My mother sits on the other side of the desk grabbing a calendar to her right,and passing it to me. "As you know Julica it is a full moon tonight, and we have to choose a fleta from MoonSwallow Academy to go to the human world," father sighs and glances at my mother. "Oh no! You can't be serious!" I call realizing what they're saying. "Julica it is your duty as an Earth Guardian to go to the human world and make sure they are okay." my mother argues. "Mother, you know how I feel about those things!!" I snap back. "Enough!" my father yells, quieting half the castle. "This is not a request Julica! We chose you for this because your attitude towards humans needs to improve! Now go to your room some maids will come by with your Guardian suit." I am at a loss for words, I stare at my mother then my father and storm out of the room.

A few minutes later an orange haired maid comes in with a black bodysuit tricked out with a utility belt. I might hate the thought of going to the human world but seeing this suit does make it better. The suit is a little tight but I can fix it later with my powers, the utility belt has some space for some weapons, like the daggers we get from the academy. I slip on a silver necklace with a circular pendant holding a white diamond in the shape of a rhombus. A few moments after I slip on the pendant there is a flash of light then everything is as it was."Princess Julica, the king has prepared the portal for you," a maid says bowing. "Thank you..." I roll my eyes and shooing her away, once she leaves I press the center of the pendant and my clothes change to some ripped jeans and a plain black t shirt. Ready or not here I come...
