Grumbling he sat in the lobby of city hall, his face hidden behind a newspaper. His eyes narrowed as he watched her fidget in her own chair, her gaze on the ground as her foot tapped and her teeth chewed on a pink plump lip.

He longed to sooth the abused flesh with his tongue, maybe even bite it so hard it bled...

Shoving the thoughts out of his head he tried his best to look normal. When deep down he felt like a caged tiger. He hated being here, surrounded by heroes and the like.

Heroes... They were puppets, just mindless tools lining up to do their duty all the while taking whatever they could before they were replaced by the next up and coming hero.

His eyes narrowed as he saw the current number one tool approach her, he was large and imposing. The permanent scowl on his face and the raging flames that were his facial hair made him look like a villain, but he knew better than anyone that looks could be deceiving.

Even so as the towering hulk of a man approached the small girl that was his current obsession he could only grit his teeth.

"Ms. Higurashi." Kagome blinked at the low growl of her name, her bright blues glancing up only to look away at the deep glowering look from the man that was standing in front of her. Tucking some hair behind her ear she stood and bowed to him, while she had seen him on TV to see him up close and personal was intimidating!

Even so she had to push through it! First impressions were everything and if she was going to be working alongside him as his support then she had to show she wasn't some weakling!

"Endeavor, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." Her voice was even and cool despite the raging emotions churning in her stomach. Her gaze was even as she met his head on, her shoulders squared as she waited for him to speak again.

Toshinori was impressed, how quickly she went from nervous school girl to calm young woman, it made him wonder what other sides to her he had yet to discover.

Endeavor gave a low huff, his flames shifting as he turned his back on her and mentioned for her to follow him. While he had been ready to chase her off, not even aware his manager had hired her to make him seem less imposing to the public, the way a fire seemed to burn in her eyes made him pause. He would give her a chance, if she was anything less than perfect then he would get rid of her like he had planned.

"Come." It was a command, and it made Toshinori bristle, his hands clenching the paper in anger. How dare he command her like some common dog? The surge of pure outrage on her behalf was startling but he mused it really didn't matter. This young woman was stirring so many things inside of him that his anger and rage were the least of his problems.

Settling in his chair he did his best to calm himself, he would be waiting here for her for however long her meeting took. He had to find out where she lived so he could keep tabs on her, though he mused he could always ask his colleague. Though the man was probably pissed that he had blown off their meeting.

Oh well, he would make it up to the man later. Right now he had only one goal in mind and he would be damned if anything tried to sway him.

X-x-x

Kagome withheld the look of annoyance on her face as she was assigned where she would be helping within the man's Hero agency. She had accepted this offer only to move into the big city, and give the man a benefit of the doubt of how she had seen him acting on the television.

He was as much of an asshole on the TV as he was in person, if not a little more since she couldn't turn or mute then living breathing man like she could the electronic.

"I understand." Kagome agreed, a sigh wanting to be released. She held back knowing the number one hero wasn't going to take an attitude of any kind.

She was a support hero, one who used barriers and healing to help citizens and heroes. She wasn't one for the limelight and knew being at this agency may push her into that. She had hoped to not work directly with Endeavour, but it looks like luck wasn't on her side.

Apparently the man thought she would make a good sidekick with himself because she wasn't a fighting type of hero.

"Good, today get familiar with the agency, starting tomorrow I will be bringing you with me on patrons." The Flame Hero went to leave before turning his eyes onto the small woman.

"Be sure to wear your Hero uniform and not civilian clothes tomorrow too." Then he left Kagome along who's lip curled at the tone he used speaking of civilians. One would think he didn't want to help people...but for all she knew he only became a hero to fight legally and not get any repercussions.

Some of the heroes nowadays were only in it for fame...not to help people and make sure they were safe.

Kagome sighed and looked at the small office that would be hers, and went and sat down. Tomorrow would be a long day....she could just feel it.
