~Derek Nightshade POV~

I sat in the highest point of my school- DarkSwitch, and looked down upon SilverLight. Laughing to myself because they don't know what's coming to them. To the students at SilverLight, DarkSwitch is just a myth used to scare new students, but this school that I have founded is no myth. DarkSwitch is obscured in the forest, far from SilverLight. I designed the school so that, from here, we can see SilverLight, but they cant see us. Their principle, Simon Bradley, knows we are here of course. He knows that a war will be oncoming, this is why he takes in 'gifted' students. SilverLight students are being prepped for the war, under the notion of controlling their powers. Honestly, I don't know why Simon doesn't tell them. My students know and are looking forward to the challenge. That is the reason they, and the school, are here.

*Flashback*

I shoved Simon onto the ground and shouted "why the hell couldn't you just leave her alone?!"

"Oh, come on, Derek! You know I couldn't! I love her and she loves me too! We're soul mates for goodness' sake!" Simon retaliated, getting up. I was furious! We both looked over to Violet who was quiet, not knowing what to say.

"I... I'm s-so sorry, Derek. B-but Simon and I are soul mates. I love you too, but he's my soul mate," Violet stammered, starting to cry. She sank down to her knees in the grass.

But I wasn't listening anymore, all I saw was red. Before Simon could realize, I summoned a great stream of magick and hurled it at him. He flew backward, slamming into a tree.

"NO!" Violet screamed. I looked over at her, seeing again. She looked so fragile, so broken. I immediately regretted what I had done. But Simon wasn't finished. Before I had enough time to react, he slammed into me, full force. After that, a fight broke out between us. Blue, purple, an white streams of magick zooming back and forth. Neither of us wanted to give up although we were tired, sweaty, and battered. Our clothes were ripped and we were both bleeding with scratches and bruises all over.

We paused, regaining our breath and started gathering all of the magick we had. In my hands, I held a giant, midnight-blue ball of magick, in Simons, a white-purple ball. We released the balls of energy at about the same time and a loud explosion created a smoke blanket all around. After the smoke cleared, I couldn't believe my eyes. Violet lay in between Simon and I on the ground. Looking at Simon, I could see the recognition register across his face, as sadness filled his eyes.

*flashback end*

I never forgave Simon for stealing my girlfriend. She was the only woman I had ever loved. Even my soul mate could never compare to Violet. I will get Simon back for that, and the day is coming very soon.
