The now 23 year old girl pouted slightly as her boyfriend left her side. Only about 30 seconds passed before Madelyn Cline took Lilia's hand in her own and pulled her into the apartment, closing the door behind her. Had they arrived too early? The lights were all off. Before Lilia could question the girl who led her inside, the lights flipped on and shouts of excitement were heard.
Lilia covered her mouth with her hands as she saw the whole cast along with their friends Lilah and Elaine. Her eyes scanned the room and she saw gold and white balloons everywhere along with tons of streamers, courtesy of Rudy she believed. Everyone wore party hats and held noise makers and Lilia couldn't help but smile. "Guys, this is great!" Austin rushed over and slid a birthday hat onto the girl's head before taking one of her hands in his own, "C'mon, I want you to see the cake!"
Like a little kid, Austin drug Lilia behind him into the kitchen of the Maddie's apartment. Lo and behold, in the middle of the kitchen island sat a circular cake with 'Lilia 23' written rather large and about a dozen cupcakes surrounding it. "I may or may not have written your name too big to also write happy birthday... so I just settled for adding the 23 instead." The boy scratched the back of his neck, just hoping that his friend was satisfied with the cake he spent hours slaving over. With tears in her eyes, Lilia took Austin into her arms and hugged him tightly, "Austy, this is so amazing. Thank you so much."
After leaving the kitchen, Lilia went around the apartment and greeted all of the attendees. Each of them informed her of how much they loved her and wished her a happy birthday, it really made her heart so full. Considering the day she had been having, this was just the thing she needed. "Lil!" Bailey called out, "We had a late arrival to the party. They tried to get here on time, but Virginia is kinda far away." At the sound of her home state being mentioned, Lilia spun around from her place in front of her boyfriend.
"You're fucking kidding." Immediately, tears began to roll down the birthday girl's cheeks. Not even 10 feet away from her was the girl she'd been best friends with since the 7th grade. Due to Lilia moving out to LA and then starting to film the show, she hadn't been able to return home. That meant she hadn't seen her best friend in 9 months. "Micah?" Lilia called out. The tall girl nodded her head before rushing over to her friend. They collided and fell to the ground, but laid there in each other's embrace.
A few minutes passed and the two girls finally stood to their feet. Lilia went around the party and introduced Micah to everyone, all of the cast immediately falling in love with the bubbly girl. They could see why her and Lilia had been best friends for so long. "Did you do this?" she asked her boyfriend, going up into her toes to press a quick kiss to his lips. Drew shook his head, "It wasn't me. You might want to ask your twin." Lilia furrowed her eyebrows. Her twin? After a few seconds, her brain made the connection. She quickly located the boy and ran to him, dragging Micah with her.
"You did this!" it was more of an exclamation than a question, but he still understood. Tom smiled cheekily and brought Lilia in for a hug, kissing the side of her head as he did. "I couldn't think of what to buy you for your birthday, so I was scrolling through your instagram for ideas and saw Micah as a common theme. Then I thought, what a better present than your best friend?" Lilia hugged the boy once more before finally looking at Micah again. The girl let out a laugh, "And let me tell you, waking up one morning to a DM from Tom Holland isn't good for your heart."
The three 20 somethings burst into a fit of laughter at Micah's comment. She was just a normal girl with a famous friend, so it wasn't every day that she had celebrities DMing her on instagram. "Cake time!" Austin yelling could be heard throughout the apartment. Collectively, the people around Lilia shoved her toward the kitchen where the cake was. "I just want to thank everyone for coming here today to celebrate our Lil turning 23. We couldn't do this show without her and i'm pretty sure none of us would be alive without her 'mom friend' tendencies either. To Lilia!" Cline called out.
A chorus of "to Lilia's" flooded the room and the girl couldn't help but tear up. Sure, her mental health that day had been less than spectacular and she definitely felt like she had no place friends with these amazing people, but it was times like this that proved her mind wrong. She was so thankful to have these people in her life and could only imagine the greatness the future held for this ragtag group of friends.
