"Just hold on! Just a little bit longer!!"

The same dream.

"This isn't going to hold the both of us (Y/N)..."

It kept repeating, over and over again.

"No! It will hold! I'm not letting you go!"

Every night.

"I'm not asking you to..."

And it always ended the same way...

"NO!!"

———
Sweat dripped down my head and neck, seeping into the bed sheets as my eyes pierced through the darkness of my small bedroom. It wasn't much, just a single bed with a desk, next to the door that was decorated with clutter such as paper and books. Knowing that I wasn't going to get very far with falling back asleep, I walked through my small apartment, going towards the sink to grab a glass of water; not before splashing the cool fluid on my face to ease my nerves.

The same dream had been repeating for the last week; or shall I say memory. Something had seemed to of triggered it but I didn't know what. The only thing I could think of that was out of the ordinary was my signing up to the Apex Games. It led to me filling out my previous jobs and what sort of expertise I could bring to the ring.

Ex-Special Forces, Lance Corporal (Y/L/N).

With some advanced tech I was able to use a super strength ability; all by hitting the ground with my fist. And I guess my passive was to be given less damage when bullets hit my shields but, Apex hadn't confirmed nor denied my thoughts. I guess only tomorrow would tell when I'd be going to the Games.

Sure, I was slightly nervous about meeting the other legends, knowing one in particular; Bangalore or Anita as I knew her. I was with her as a recruit at the IMC Military Academy but it just so happened I got picked to be involved in their elite Special Forces and, well, Anita wasn't.

Apart from that, I thought I was ready to finally show the world what I was capable of in the ring.

'Man. I really wish I went straight back to bed...' I tried rubbing my eyes slightly with a hand as I looked back out of the car window. To say that I couldn't get back to sleep was an understatement, that would be a complete lie. I could already feel the bags under my eyes and before I knew it, the driver had stopped outside a pearl white modern mansion.

Glass coating every visible wall and I couldn't help but look at it in awe. 'Well, this is definitely better than my shitty apartment.' Giving some money to the driver, he soon zoomed off, leaving me with just my bag. However, I wasn't alone soon.

"Welcome Amigo!!" The vibrant flash of green dashed in front of me, clearly full of energy. Way too much if you ask me. "The name is Octane! Or you can call me Octavio." Even the way he spoke was insanely quick. Not to mention his handshake though; I think we did about 3 different ones.

"Easy Silva. You don't wanna go scarin' the poor girl." A warm Jamaican accent soon came to the rescue; and she too was energetic. Just in a more bubbly way. "Name's Lifeline but call me Ajay, ya hear me?" I couldn't help but smile warmly at the shorter girl, giving a curt nod and before I knew it, I was being led into the mansion, Octavio speeding off whilst Ajay stayed by my side.

They showed me around the place a bit, letting me drop my bag off at my room before guiding me back to what seemed to be a living area where pretty much all the legends where sprawled out on the couches, in there own world of themselves. That was until a bearded man looked towards the three of us and simply smiled.

"Ah! Guess who's back with the new champion? Well, second best...I'm of course the champion." Boy was this guy cocky. "I'm Mirage, but call me Elliot when we're off the ring." I simply smiled before the other legends introduced themselves; Wraith, a peculiar woman but I could see that she was pure at heart; Bloodhound, a wise yet mysterious person; Gibraltar, extremely friendly; Wattson, punny. Just punny; Crypto, again, mysterious; Pathfinder, a cheery robot.

Loba; an alluring woman I can give her that. Even the way she held herself was enough to make anybody stop and stare. I tried my best to not get too flustered whilst under her gaze but it seemed that she had cottoned on to my lingering eyes as she smirked devilishly. I could already tell if I matched with her, it would be nothing but teasing.

"Never thought I'd see the day sharp shooter..." That familiar voice seemed to echo through the entire room, causing silence to follow. The other legends seemed to look towards the two of us, confused.

"Wait, you guys know each other?" Elliot interjected causing me to smile slightly, remembering training with my old friend.

"We trained together." I spoke up; I wasn't really much of a talker anyways, I more kept to myself and only sort of spoke when spoken to.

Once Anita was in front of me, I noticed how similar in height we were. What I could remember was that I was a little bit taller than her in training. "Looks like you've grown a bit." I smirked slightly, my arms crossing in front of me. "And I can tell that smirk hasn't change a bit."

That was how it went on for my first night. Being reunited with an old friend meant that you had a lot to talk about. Not that it was much, just Anita giving me a couple of tips before I was put onto the drop ship, into my first match tomorrow.

However, I couldn't help but feel eyes burning into me and when I caught eye of a certain Portuguese woman, she simply smirked before cat walking away, out of sight but definitely not out of mind. She was definitely going to be interesting.

"So what's your Game name?" Anita asked. I looked down at my hands that were situated on the table, playing with the rings on my fingers.

"Inpulsa..."
