"Liza!" Jimmy called, knocking on my bedroom door, "are you ready to go?"
"Yeah, I'm just packing my bag," I called back.
I heard my door open as I double checked that all of my books and supplies were there. I double checked my appearance in my mirror, adjusting my uniform before I put my jacket on, slinging my backpack over my shoulder.
"Let's go, little sister," Jimmy smiled, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, "do you want breakfast before we leave?"
"No thank you, but can we stop for coffee please?" I asked.
"Of course," Jimmy smiled, "oh and we're picking up the boys."
I nodded with my lips pressed in a thin line as we walked down our staircase and out or front door, nodding to Andrew before we shut our front door. I climbed into the front seat of Jimmy's car, buckling my seatbelt and holding my bag on my lap.
Jimmy and I live a privileged life, and I would never try to play it off like we don't or push it around like it meant something. We are fortunate enough to live in a beautiful home with our loving parents, and we have more than enough for us to be comfortable including Andrew, who is our butler. He watched Jimmy and I when we were kids while our parents were working. He's been essentially working for our parents for the last 15 years, since I was 2 and Jimmy was 3. He's pretty much an extension of our family, like he never turns down a water balloon fight or a nerf battle or even a food fight (well he does turn those down from time to time).
"Your usual?" Jimmy asked as he pulled into the drive-thru of the coffee shop.
"Yes please," I smiled.
I sat quietly as Jimmy ordered and he pulled out his wallet to pay the girl at the window. He flashed her one of the million-dollar Jimmy Donaldson smiles before she passed over the carrier of drinks. I smirked as Jimmy handed me the coffee he ordered for me before he drove off, taking a drink from his own coffee. I watched out the window as the world passed by, seeing blurs of trees and homes that we passed. We pulled into the driveway of Chris' home, only waiting a moment before he opened the backdoor and climbing in.
"Morning," Chris sighed, grabbing a coffee cup from Jimmy's hands.
"Morning," I forced a smile back.
I remained silent as Jimmy made his rounds, stopping to pick up each of his friends. Each of his buddies that thrived on making things hard for me, mainly Chandler Hallow – our last stop before getting to school.
"Out," Chandler commanded as he opened my door while we sat in his driveway.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing my bag and climbing all the way in the back, sitting alone while the rest of his friends snickered at me. I bit my tongue, refusing to give a reaction, he wasn't worth my energy or my time. Friends with my brother or not, they were all assholes.
I fished my headphones out of the side pocket of my backpack, plugging them into my phone before slipping them into my ears and starting some music. I kept the volume low, quiet enough so I could still hear everything going on in the car while looking like I was oblivious to their bullshit. I didn't need to hear whatever they were going to say, they usually don't say anything about me when I'm not there to give a reaction – usually.
"What crawled up your sister's ass today?" Chandler laughed, "I mean pouting while she stares out the window like some tortured little artist full of angst."
"Don't talk about my sister like that," Jimmy countered, smacking Chandler's chest, "and she isn't pouting. You kicked her out of her seat like a jackass. Would it kill you to be polite just once?"
