Chapter 18

5 months later........(I realized that I'm just skipping time a lot😭 my bad)

Tessa POV

It's the afternoon and I'm just finishing changing Emery into a cute little outfit for addys second birthday party. Landon has only invited us and a couple of friends to Dave & busters

Hardin left the apartment at around 11 to buy addy a gift and hasn't came back since. I grab my phone and text Hardin "hey where are you?! We're going to be late if you don't come back in time" I type

I feed Emery a bottle of milk in the meantime and wait for his response. After a couple of minutes my phone buzzes, "I'm on my way, patience tiger🐅" he replies making me giggle at my phone. Emery whines and reaches for my phone

"What's the matter Ems" I look down to my beautiful daughter, she points to the phone and frowns

"You want to call your dad" I question, she pulls her head forward and back making me laugh "ok let's call him then", I FaceTime his number and he answers after the second ring. He's sitting in his car and I can already see the traffic in the background

Emery takes the phone out of my hand and smiles at Hardin on the screen

"Hey princess" Hardin smiles at Emery through the phone, Emery looks back at me and giggles. Emery continues to mess with the phone putting on too many color filters, Hardin talks to her for a while and Emery just gives him nods and smiles. She still hasn't learned to talk but she's still only five months after all.

"Okay Tess I'm close to the apartment" Hardin says "ok we'll be right out" I smile and end the call. I grab my things and walk out the door with Emery on my hip waiting for Hardin to pull up

Once I see Hardins car I put Emery in her car seat and sit back in the front. Hardin gives me a kiss and places his hand on my thigh

"What did you get addy?"

"Just... a couple of toys" Hardin slowly says

"Hardin I said only one gift!" I exclaim

"I know I couldn't help it okay" he gives me a smug expression and I roll my eyes

When we arrive Hardin picks up Emery and I carry the bag full of little presents. We walk in and the place is huge. I see Landon over at some tables and walk over, he sees us walking and smiles

"Hey glad you three made it!" He smiles "wait is that all for addy?!"

"Don't blame me, it was him who bought all of it" I chuckle and look behind to see Hardin smiling and playing with emery's hair

"Hardin I said one gift" Landon says

"That's what I said too!" I laugh

"My bad" Hardin shrugs and focuses back to Emery

I roll my eyes and Landon laughs at me, we talk for a while until sophias grandma walks in on our conversation, Landon excuses himself and I turn around facing Hardin and Emery. I hold on Hardins open arm and lay my head on his shoulder. Suddenly I feel a light tap on my leg

"Auntie Tessa, uncle Hardin will you come wif me,play games" addy points to the arcade area. "Of course sweetie" I smile. We follow addy to the arcade and she sits at a race car game

"Uncle Hardin sit right dere" she point to the other game chair. He gives Emery to me and he starts to play with addy

They play for a while and jump to other games to play, me and Hardin switch places time to time, and when an hour goes by we have basically played all the game's

"Ooh can we take a picture pwease" she stands in front of the photo booth

Hardin quietly whines but I agree to her and we all sit in the tight area. Addy is sitting in the middle and Emery is sitting on Hardins lap. The countdown starts and I nudge Hardin to smile, he looks at me and whines but finally lets in at the last minute. We take at least four more pictures and leave the booth. I look at the pictures and smile

We follow addy to the prize store or whatever and addy looks around. Emery leans to a small stuff cat from the shelf. "No baby you can't have that sorry" Hardin mumbles. I know he's probably dying right now saying no to her, he hates saying no to her which is ironic really from his past.

"I can get Emery that if she wants cuz I have enough coins" addy says

"Oh no it's okay Emery has a lot of toys already, but that's very sweet of you" I comb her curly hair

Addy proceeds to look around and we go to the checkout to pay, she gets out her little toys and at the end she pulls out the plush cat, she looks up at me and cups her mouth and starts laughing.

The lady gives addy her stuff in a bag and we walk back to the table where everyone is at, "addy when did you grab that toy you little sneaker" I tickle her neck making her laugh. She puts her bag on the table and grabs the plush cat out of the bag handing it to Emery

"Here you go Emery" she smiles, Emery takes the toy and gladly plays with it

Landon come by and tells us that it is time to sing happy birthday. Everyone is gathered around, addy in the center with her cake and candles in front of her. I pull out my phone and take a video while everyone is singing happy birthday. She blows out her candles and everyone starts clapping and cheering. Sophia cuts the cake and I grab a piece and sit back down

"Wants some baby" I pick a piece and hold it out for Emery

"Of course" Hardin says with a smug expression, I wack his arm and he laughs

"Be quiet" I roll my eyes smiling

After we eat cake addy starts opening her presents showing everyone what she got one by one. Hardin bought her her Barbie dolls and a coloring book.

By the time the party is over, Emery is passed out on Hardin shoulder and we start to head out. Landon and Sophia thanks us for coming and addy gives us a big hug

We get in the car and buckle Emery in and start driving back to the apartment. It's already late in the day and the sky is showing a beautiful sunset reflecting each an every building

I look behind me and look at Emery who is peacefully sleeping in her car seat, I look back at Hardin and smile. He lays his hand on my thigh once again and gives it a light squeeze
